As time passed by, Seraphina's body was going through pregnancy changes. Due to this, she felt less confident about herself. She was getting heavier, her skin was stretching, her mouth was always busy chewing, her midline became darker, and she felt ugly.
"Babe, you're beautiful. You were beautiful before the baby, with the baby, and you'll be more beautiful after the baby," Quincy said sincerely as he wrapped his hands around her, placing his palms on her bulging stomach.
"It's easy for you to say. It's not your body that's turning ugly," she snapped pushing him away.
Since she started to show behavioral changes, Quincy had paid even more attention towards her. He made sure to tell how beautiful she was and took pictures and showed it to her.
She was still working at the University, and he understood she was under stress also. She always felt like she couldn't fit into any clothes. She was currently 7 months pregnant and school had just ended, ushering in the summer break.
She hated it that work became inconvenient and hated it even more that she wouldn't be going back to work for the rest of the year.
His wife was miserable during her pregnancy, and he couldn't even share the burden with her. It killed him everytime he woke up to her sobbing at 2 in the morning. He was heartbroken everytime she was dispirited looking through her pre-pregnancy closet with a bitter smile.
He was as lost as she was.
