Without A Problem

The flight to the research facility took a little under eight hours. During that time all Lieutenant Santiago was prepping his soldiers for the mission, making sure all their gear was all set. The atmosphere became very serious as the group got closer to their destination.

There was not much for Oscar to do during the flight. He set the navigation point into the autopilot system and just waited. He spent most of the eight hours in the cockpit, making sure that every system was running as it was supposed to. Since this was his first real mission, and he had Commander Harris as his passenger, he wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly.

Commander Harris did not bother Oscar much during the flight. He went and checked on Oscar once, when they were nearing the research facility. He had kept a calm expression the entire trip, and everywhere he went, A specter was always following. Hammer usually stayed by Commander Harris side, never saying a word. With his full specter armor on, including his helmet, Oscar could not read anything from Hammer.

"Oscar the facility is right there. we should receive a signal from them in a few seconds."

Just as Commander Harris finished his sentence, a communication signal arrived. Oscar accepted the signal and a voice could be heard through the radio.

"Unidentified aircraft, this is restricted airspace, change course or you will be shot at"

Commander Harris responded to the man over the radio. "This is commander Harris, identification code being transmitted."

After a few more sentences of exchange between the commander and the man over the radio, coordinates for where to land were received. Oscar took the ship off autopilot and began to land the ship.

The coordinates lead Oscar and the others to land in a small clearing right beside the mountain. At first glance there was nothing to indicate that there was a research facility located there. However as they got closer to the ground, Oscar could see that there was a large hanger door built into the wall of the mountain. The research facility was inside the mountain.

Once they the ship got close to the ground, Oscar was directed to slowly fly towards the hanger doors, which were now opening. Once inside, Oscar could see lots of activity. People running around the open space, some carrying data pads, others carrying boxes, everyone seemed to be in a rush.

Once the ship was securely landed, commander Harris gathered everyone at the cargo bay and began to give his orders.

"Listen up everyone, the main objective is to transport the scientist off the planet safely as well as take any valuable research and tech. If there is something we cannot take then we must destroy it."

"Sir. How many people are we going to take?" Lieutenant Santiago interrupted. "The transport ship still has room but it will get real crowed real quick if we are taking everyone in the ship."

"Good observation Lieutenant, however this ship will not be the only transport ship leaving the facility. Our ship will be taking the head scientists and some top secret research material only. There are other Transport ships here that will take the other scientists and material."

"Oscar you will ensure that the ship is fully fueled and ready to take off at a momments notice. Do whatever you have to do to make it happen" Commander Harris told him.

After the commander finished giving out his orders to the rest of the group, Oscar opened up the cargo bay doors, revealing a group of individual with labcoats waiting for the commander. Harris walked up to the group of scientist and was quickly whisked away to a deeper part of the research facility, followed closy behind by the specters.

Lieutenant Santiago and his soldiers started unpacking their gear. They were all given different orders on where to go and what they needed to bring. Oscar found himself alone with the three recruits he had first met at the academy.

"The lieutenant gave us order to stay here and protect the ship. So basically we are stuck on babysitting duties" James was telling Tyson and Daniels.

"Its our first mission, of course the lieutenant wouldnt trust us with an important mission. Just be happy we are even here" recruit Daniels responded.

Oscar left the three recruits to their own devices and walked out of the ships cargo bay and talked with some of the hanger crew members. During this time, the hanger crew began loading materials into the ship. About an hour into watching the engineers and scientists running around the hanger, commander Harris voice spoke into this ear.

"Oscar what is the condition of your ship? Is she ready to fly?"

It took Oscar a split second to recognize that it was the commander talking into his ear and he responded. "Sir, she is ready to fly at anytime. The scientists have already loaded some research materials."

"Good job son. Looks like this mission will go without any complications. We are heading back to your positions. Get ready to take off" suddenly the alarms started blasting. The scientist and engineers could be seen panicking, moving even faster then before.

"The Iscillians have jumped into the system and are making their way to the planet" Commander Harris voiced. "They will arrive within the hour. Our ship are greatly out numbered and will not be able to resist that Iscillian invasion for long. All units return to the ship and prepare for take off."

Oscars heart began to beat faster as the sounds of the alarm continued to blast loudly, He went back into the ship and turned on te engines. His ship was ready to leave at any time.

Withing a few minutes the soldiers all returned with a group of scientists and some boxes which he assumed was filled with research material and technology. After about half an hour all the soldiers had returned and everything was loaded onto the ship, the only one missing was Commander Harris.

"Sir, the ship is all loaded and ready to fly out. You are the only one left." Oscar began to say over the radio.

"Understood, I am with the head scientist of the facility and we should be arriving withing five minutes" Commander Harris responded.

The seconds felt like minutes and the minutes felt like hours, with antisipation, Oscar could not help but feel that something was going to happen. The other dropships were already taking off and heading towards the space port. His ship was eventually the only one left. After a few more minutes, commander Harris finally showed up with one scientist and a small metalic container that was no bigger then a data pad.

Sweat could be seen from commander Harris face, he began to speak, while trying to catch his breath. "Get us out of hear and head for the space port. Once we arrive, my ship will be there waiting there for us to dock and it will fly us out of the planet."

Without much more motivation, Oscar hurried to his pilot seat and took off. As soon as his ship left the hanger, massive explosions occured throught the base. The Soldiers had planeted explosives around the base, enough to make sure that everything was destroyed.

The mission went without a problem.
