Briefing

The Chariot had escaped the Icillian fleet and managed to jump to a federation controlled system. News of the federation fleet devastating defeat had spread across the entire quadrant. The entire military was on high alert. Many federation outer world defence ships were being recalled to defend more important systems. This left many parents undefended and thousands of citizens being left stranded.

The Icillians were not known to be hospitable conquers, and any federation forces that were left behind were quickly killed.

Since the events on Oscars planet, another Eight systems have called to the Icillians and their massive fleet. The sheer amount of forces that the enemy had gathered surprised the Federation military command. While it was unknown just how vast the Icillians empire was, it was believed that the Icillians held the same amount of military power as the Federation.

The result was a massive defeat for the federation and thousands of ships lost. With no other clear option available, the federation ordered a massive retreat of it's outer world defence fleets, gathering them in several other more strategic systems.

This infuriated Oscar. In his eyes the federation was abandoning it's people, leaving the defenseless with no hope of salvation. Over the weeks since the Icillians massive fleet first showed up, Oscar has been busy completing mission after mission. His outstanding piloting skills have led to him being well trusted by his superiors and his personality has made him well liked by the other pilots as well.

Oscar was making his way towards one of the many situation rooms located on the Chariot. Commander Harris requested that Oscar be stationed in his ship, since he liked the cadet and had more the proven himself. Oscar was quite happy with that since he was under the command of someone he trusted. it made him feel safer, like he wasn't in the hands of some military bureaucrat with no understanding of military tactics and only got its position through connections.

Entering the room, Oscar found that there were already more the a dozen officers, pilots and soldiers seated inside, waiting for the briefing for the mission to begin. He found himself an empty seat near the back of the room and sat down, waiting patiently for the commanding officers to beging the briefing.

Much has changed since the defeat of his homeworld Tiham. The federation was now gearing up for a full offensive, gathering it's forces. dozens of shipyards have been build and are now building more vessels for the federations with dozens of more shipyards being built. The federation economy is now set up for war.

Throughout humanities long history, there are many great traits that we have, two of them being our ability to adapt and our ability to wage war. Humanity loves peace but it has never been afraid of showing its fangs and this has been evident with humanities countless wars on its homeworld of Earth. The moment commander Harris walks into the room followed by other senior officers, the room become quiet and those standing quickly find a seat, the briefing is about to begin.

"Listen up everyone. We received word that one of the outer planted is currently being attacked by a small Icillian fleet that has broken off from the main enemy Armada. With the Icillian Armada being held off by the new established federation defensive line, we suspect that this small fleet will be left without any reinforcements. Thus, command in all its wisdom has decided that our fleet will be sent out to take them out."

Whispers began to course thought out the room as excitement began to rise.

"Pay attention!" Commander Harris barked out.

"The Chariot along with the rest of the original Tiham defence fleet will be sent out along with one Federation Carrier" Commander Harris paused and looked around the room, meeting Oscars gave before continuing with the briefing.

"The Icillians have launched a ground offense against the planet and it's our job to stop them. Your decision commanders have been briefed on the mission plane and detailed will be related to you all later." Commander Harris continued with the briefing, discussing what will be expected when we arrive at the contested system such as the enemies numbers and where the federation will be sending it's troops on the planets surface.

Once the briefing was over, Oscar got up to leave and prepare for the upcoming mission, but before he could leave, commander Harris's voice called him out, asking him to wait. Turning around he saw commander Harris and an unknown officer walking up to him, a smile on the considers face easily visible. Oscar saluted when the Commander stood in front of him.

"Oscar you are a fine pilot and an even better man. You have more then proven your resourcefulness and I admire that about you."

Oscar has been on several missions since the fall of Tiham. When commander Harris's fleet retreated and regrouped at Peviri, where the federation fleet housed one of its largest command stations. The command stations housed a massive drydock area where a dozen federation destroyers could dock at once. There was also a massive central hanger where many more smaller cargo ships and Corvettes could dock inside.

It took five years, thousands of mechanics and engineers, and am impressive amount of resources to construct the station. The designated name for the station is FS-01 but the personal stationed inside call it Tombstone.

"I want you to keep a sharp eye out and make sure your mission is successful. Good luck." And with those words the Commander turned and left, leaving Oscar a little stunned by the sudden compliments. Oscar turned around and walked out of the briefing room and towards the Chariots hanger where his ship was waiting.

But in the back of his head, Oscar couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about this mission. The Icillians had a huge numerical advantage, and in the previous engagements with the fleet, they have always used this numerical advantage to its full potential. Having a small fleet sent out to attack a defended Federation system just doesn't seem like something the Icillians would do. Never the less, Oscar would do what he had to do to make it home safe, he just can't wait till this war is over.
