I Walk

I walk down the street, my pace slow, I got away from Jacket, and that was the whole idea. Besides, I need to save my energy. If I burn it all at once, I will be dead in a ditch, just like he said.

My mind is running faster than the Flash, a million questions running through. How did I not know about the gangs?! Why did nobody tell me?! How didn't I figure it out?! I could have bought any house in the country in a place I know there're no gangs. But instead, I chose to live in a house my parents bought, where there was an 85% chance of there being gangs!

Luckily, I notice the '97 Chevy Impala crouched at the side of the road, despite my focus on the questions of life. Being me, I decide to sneak around him, going into the woods to make a little detour. Hopefully, he doesn't see me.

Once out a few yards in front of him, I sprint for a few meters. I walk again after that, but it's at a faster pace than before. Luckily for me, I don't hear the engine, so I think I'm in the clear for now.

Finally, I make it to West St., but I'm exhausted. I walk for a while more, and now I'm home. Home sweet home, where I don't have to worry about gangs or thugs.

Oh shit. I left my bike at school.
