TMSN - Chapter 10

This week went by quick, I stayed at home, mainly on the couch or my armchair doing school work, or just chilling, talking with Joe. The day of the doctors' appointment couldn't come any quicker.

This break from school was what I needed, no Natasha, no gossip or rumours, and no bullshit. But I do miss Drew White, though we did keep in touch through texts.

Joy tends to keep me updated on everything school related, I ignore some of it because I'm not interested but I still listen to her out of respect and I knew what she felt when she did so.

Honestly being home for this week has been pretty boring, a good break, but boring.

Today is the day of my doctors' appointment, I wouldn't be happier for this day to come, ready to get this over and done with.

I woke up to Joe shaking me, "come on Shadow, time to start getting ready," he said as I opened my eyes.

"What's the time? Wheres Joy?" I asked, mumbling as I moved to sit up as Joe took a step back, giving me space to do so.

"Its ten in the morning, your appointment is in a few hours, and Joy is at school, I couldn't let her have the day off too," he answered and explained, I nodded in understanding before yawning, stretching before I grabbed my crutches and grabbed the pile of my clothes that Joy or Joe must've left there before me, then I made my way to the downstairs bathroom to get changed.

Whilst in the bathroom, I unwrapped my bandages to see how the wounds were going, some were already scaring, but there was no more fresh blood. I pulled out some alcohol wipes and cleaned up the wounds just a little bit more, removing the dried blood and to make sure there were no infections.

Happy with how the wounds were healing, I didn't bother with a bandage, they needed some air. So I quickly got dressed into a hoodie two sizes too big and a size too big of track pants so when the doctor needed to look at the cast or needed to take an x-ray I just needed to roll up the leg of the trousers so it was easier.

As I slipped on one of my black uggs taking the other one just in a sense of security before grabbing my black messenger back that was covered in various band badges and sewn on patches. Checking to make sure my wallet, keys and anything else I needed was in it, before grabbing my phone off charge and moving to the lounge room with the crutches. Waiting for Joe to come downstairs from getting ready himself.

I was sitting on the couch for around an hour, reading a fanfiction on Wattpad on my phone until Joe joined me downstairs, his hair half dry from the shower he must've had before changing into a pair of jeans and a blue button up shirt and putting his black and green sneakers on, before grabbing his car keys and opening the front door before nodding towards the door, indicating its time to go.

I stood up, leaning on my crutches before handing my bag to Joe as he locks up behind us before we walked to his car. After he unlocked it we climbed in, putting my bag and crutches in the bag so I had leg room before Joe started the car and began driving towards the doctors' clinic.

As Joe pulled into a car park at the clinic, I reached into the back seat, pulling out both crutches, before opening the door and stood, becoming stable before I closed the car door, allowing Joe to lock up the car after grabbing my bag out from the back seat before flinging it onto his shoulder.

Joe lead the way into the clinic, holding the door open for me before we walked to the front desk to sign in and let them know we are here.

While waiting in the waiting room, a mother and her son came into the clinic with the kid trying to escape his mothers grasp on his hand to stop him from running off.

After the family signed in, they sat in the chairs across from us, when the child looked up his eyes caught mine and smiled at me. I gave him a small smile back which made him jump around in the chair, getting excited from the attention he gained since his mother was on her phone.

I let out a silent chuckle at his behaviour before pulling out one of the fiddling toys I kept in my bag and held it out to him, showing him how it works.

"Thank you miss, my name is Wyatt," He said, taking the toy out of my hand before high fiving it and sitting back onto the chair he was previously on.

"Hello Wyatt, my name is Shadow," I introduced myself just as the doctor came out of a room, calling for me.

Standing up, Joe held out his hand to help me get up before grabbing my bag while I got my crutches and started making our way to the doctors' office.

After a quick examination of my vitals and all that, the doctor took me into the x-ray room and took some pictures before leaving Joe and me in the office while she took a look at the photos, before coming back in and showing us the pictures.

"Shadow, you seem to be healing really good, the cast should be able to come off by the end of next week at the earliest, but still don't cause any strain or pressure onto the leg, as it could cause more harm than anything." The doctor explained while pointing at the healing bones in my ankle and foot.

"Thank you so much, Doctor Treskow" Joe said, taking a packet that held copies of the x-ray. "We will book another appointment for next Friday, more time for the injury to heal and all."

While Joe and Doctor Treskow were sorting out the time for the appointment on Friday, I was scrolling on Instagram, not really paying attention to what they were saying. I trusted Joe to handle everything and anything appointment.

As we walked out her office, Joe holding the business card that she wrote down our upcoming appointment on before she handed it to Joe and let us go back home.

On our way out, Joe went up to the front desk, making sure that they put our appointment in the books and signed us out, while the little boy and his mother were still in the waiting room, where he grabbed onto the bottom of my shirt, stopping me.

"Hey Wyatt," I said smiling down at him, maneuvering my crutches so I could be more comfortable.

"Shadow!" He cheered, happy that I didn't ignore him, "Here, don't forget your toy." he said, holding to toy out for me to take.

"Thank you, but you can keep it, I have more," I said, closing his hand around the toy.

"Thank you so much," he said, jumping up and down in excitement before he latched onto my leg in a tight hug.

"Wyatt, let go of that poor young lady," his mother said, raising her voice, finally paying her son attention.

"It's okay, he's just happy," I said, defending Wyatt as I patted his back in a sign of letting go, which he did, "Be a good boy for your mummy okay," I say, ruffling his hair up making him laugh, but nod in agreement before sitting back down next to his mother showing her his new toy as she finally puts down her phone.

After a quick moment, watching Wyatt playing and smiling, I looked up at Joe who was nodding towards the door as he walked away from the desk to hold it open it for me as we leave.

As we pulled up into our driveway after the appointment and going to KFC and getting some lunch.

As I was about to get out of the car, Joe stopped me.

"I have to go pick up Joy, I'll be back later, also need to get groceries." He explained before handing me the house key and my bag after I gained balance on my crutches.

"All good, I'll still be here," I joked, shutting the passenger door, watching him back out of the driveway and driving off towards the school, but not before honking the horn in a goodbye.

After a few moments, I decided to go inside, it was a balanced game when I was unlocking the door and trying to lean on the crutches and not drop my bag.

When I finally unlocked the door and got in, I put the keys in the bowl at the front door that held loose change and other sets of keys and junk. Before collapsing onto the couch, where my laptop sat charging.

Throwing my bag onto my armchair, but not before pulling out my phone and its charger cord.

As I was almost finished working on some school work, I heard the front door open before Joy came into the lounge room, carrying grocery bags, heading towards the kitchen and dining room.

"We're home," she declared, pointing out the obvious.

"I can see that, need any help?" I asked, moving my laptop off of my lap and beside me. Ready to grab my crutches if needed.

"Nah, it's okay, we got it handled," Joe said, moving to put the food away, while Joy brought the last of the bags in, including her school bag and the packet with the x-ray pictures from today.

"How was the appointment today?" Joy asked as she handed off the bags to Joe before putting everything else on the loveseat and shutting the door.

"Good, another week, then we go back and see if we can get this cast off my leg. I'm healing really good she said," I said, giving her just a brief outlook, not wanting to give her every detail about what happened.

After dinner and watching some Walking Dead, Joy and Joe were ready to call it a night, and collected their stuff before heading upstairs, but not before they exchanged goodnights with me then each other.

While I laid down, getting comfortable on my makeshift bed on the couch, I turned off the TV and my computer, moving to read fanfiction on Wattpad.

As I was reading I got a text from Drew White, sitting up I opened the message.

*Hey Shadow, how have you been this week I've missed you - D*

I smiled before replying.

*Long and slow, I miss you too - S*

*How was the doctors appointment this week - D*

*Good should get the cast off next Friday - S*

*Thats amazing. What you up to? - D*

*Nothing much getting ready for bed. You? - S*

*Same and thinking of you - D*

I smiled, letting out a little giggle at the cheesiness of Drew's text. I sat there reading it for a minute before replying.

*I'll see you next week K - S*

*Better be there. Sleep x - D*

*Only if you do - S*

After we said our goodnights and goodbyes before I went back to reading.

I finished one of the books I was reading on Wattpad before I got lost in my thoughts. During this week I forgot about what would happen when I go back to school. Natasha is back, and I don't think we would be besties when I'm back.

I started to fall asleep, but I tried to fight it, not wanting to give in just yet. But like it is every night, sleep wins and pulled me into yet another dreamless sleep.
