City of Ravens (4)

A week after I met with Emily. I was still staying at my parent's house, training every day my strength quickly increased. I told Master about the heat that I felt when exercising, he had no idea what that was but since it was helping I was supposed to use it to the fullest.

With the heap of the symbols on my arm, my body grew, not only stronger but also taller. From the already high 180 centimeters, I grew more than ten centimeters, forcing me to spend more money buying new clothes. With this sudden grow surprisingly I stayed thin, but my muscles became harder and more defined.

My soul also almost reached the limit, and soon I will have to condense it again. My control already reached the limit and now that I knew there is a bottleneck on it I didn't waste my time trying to force it.

As for Emily up till now, I received one text day after we met saying that her computer is dead, and it will delay her. With nothing to do here, I packed my things and got ready to leave when I got a phone call from Emily.

"Hello."

"Dominique, hi. Listen I have something to tell you, how about we meet in person. Remember where we first met? The Belgia Café. We should meet there."

Belgia Café? We first meet in… Is there a problem? Maybe she is in trouble?

"Sure. How is Nate? Is he still trying to ask you out?"

"YES! But he stopped being so discrete."

Nate asking her out means trouble. But discrete? If it is Nate then it doesn't make sense, but considering that she is speaking in code, then it can only mean that someone was or is observing her. There is also a possibility of someone listening to this call. This is not fun at all."

"I will meet you there as soon as I can."

"Thank you."

When the call ended, I took out the sim card out of my phone, just in case. I dressed in my armor and covered it with a hoodie, put on my backpack and started running towards the university. I passed by cars, with my current physique I could run much faster than before, and twenty minutes later I was at the reception.

I scanned the surrounding looking for Emily, the crowd of students moving back and forth made it difficult. Or it could be that I was overthinking things and she made a mistake and really wanted to meet at the café.

I had to make sure that I was not mistaken and started to look around for places from where she could see the reception but stay hidden. And when I was about to give up, I found a spot in the corner of the room, hidden behind a plant. Wearing a baseball cap, glasses oversized hoodie and loose pants. In obvious disguise pretending to read a magazine was Emily.

I made my way up to her and sited down beside her. At first, she panicked but seeing that it was me she relaxed and continued pretending that she was reading the magazine she was holding.

"Tell me what's with the talking in a code, and the disguise. Quickly, because I'm kinda scared. And if it really is Nate causing problems then I can help, he already tried to send goons after me. And it didn't end well for him."

"What?! Nate sent people after you?! That filth of a person. He and his whole Mafia playmaking trouble everywhere. But no, it's not Nate. He wouldn't dare to do something like this. And thank god that you are smart, I wasn't sure if you would understand what I meant."

"Ok, now you are making it even scarier. What happened?"

"It's all your fault! I was researching the symbols you gave me since my laptop died I was using a public pc, but they don't have any good software. My friend offered me to use her laptop, so I installed the program, entered the symbols, and left it running waiting for results. That was two days ago. When I woke up yesterday and went to check if something came up… there was nothing! Everything was gone!"

"The program didn't work? That's it?"

"NO! I meant my friend! She was gone, alongside all her things there was not even a speck of dust left! And there were people in black suits asking all sorts of questions. Where was she from, how was she behaving, did she find anything unusual lately, she was a terrorist?! They showed me the symbols and asked if I saw them anywhere! I want to know what the hell are those symbols now, or I will go to them and rat you out, NOW!"

What is happening?! These symbols are from my arm, how would anyone else know about them? If the ruins were found and someone was tracking me down now, it would be… I have no idea!

In the ruins, only on the altar were there any similar symbols, and I found that place by complete accident, after so many years it looked like I was the first one there. Unless someone found a similar place, like Master. And now looking for other people that found other places like that!

"I need to call someone." I said while taking out the flip phone from my backpack and called Master. The call went through, and Master answered. I told him what happened to Emily and asked him what I should do.

"It depends if you trust that Emily. If you do fill her in. If you don't, only make sure she doesn't talk, no matter how. Stay hidden, don't let them know who you are, how you look, or what you can do. I can't be sure if these people are the same that I met, but that doesn't matter. Stay safe, I will get back as soon as I can."

When we finished talking I looked at Emily, she was still pretending to read a magazine. When she learned that someone was looking into these symbols, she didn't rat me out. She contacted me. She told me everything. I couldn't be sure if I can trust her hundred percent, but you need to take risks in life.

"I can tell you everything, but if I do, depends on what will you do after I do. I can't have these people learning about me having these symbols, so if I tell you anything, you would have to leave this place. I will hide you, and until this situation is resolved, it would need to stay that way."

"What did you get me into?"

She asked in a confused voice, she still was looking at her magazine, but her eyes were closed. She was thinking. Listening to my story of how I got the symbols on my arm, sometimes in a low voice asking questions, a few minutes later there was only silence between us.

I watched as the students moved back and forth waiting for Emily to say something, from time to time taking a peek at her expression that was continually fluctuating. As I was about to say something, Emily put down her magazine and looked me in the eyes.

"I will go with you. I don't know what will happen, but it will be more interesting than watching you getting arrested. What now?"

"Thank you for trusting me. We need to leave, as soon as possible. You can't show up at your dorms, we go now and take a bus to Hawkesbury, there you will cut your hair, dye them, buy new clothes. Then we will board another bus to Algonquin town, we will stay there."

"Let's go then."

"Wait. Tell me, why did you agree? You are leaving so much behind."

"I have my reasons, but they are not for you to hear, let's go now."

We left the campus while making sure that no one was following us. After taking a bus to Hawkesbury, we found a small shop and bought everything we needed. Emily cut her hairs short and dyed them blond. We then left for Algonquin town on a bus and arrived the next day in the morning.
