While proud of his progress, Alodar knew that a mud house was not going to be comfortable. He also could not be certain of the edibility of the animals that the Jade Kobold had caught. He was mostly unconcerned of the danger of eating them however, while Alodar was a Summoner he still had a hardy body. The teachers at the Tower Of Kau had made sure that he was trained in and taught all the paths he could take, even when he had already chose one. As Alodar worked on his crater home, he quickly stood and glared to the south. One of his Sun Souls had been killed, while the Sun Souls had no combat ability and were fragile it still could fly. So far he had seen a lack of flying animals or even many flying insects. The exact distance was unknown but it was at within 50 kilometers. While Alodar could certainly see where the Sun Soul died, he could not see past the canopy of trees. Going personally was definitely the fastest method, but also the most dangerous. While he had a 85% certainty that this was an new world, he was still cautious. The second fasted method would be to send another Sun Soul, but if one died whats to say another wouldn't. So that left his Kobold, definitely no speedster it still had great stamina. The Kobold could make it in at most 5 hours but the thing or things that killed the Sun Soul could have left at that point. Alodar supposed he could ignore it… no he decided to send the Kobold.
As Time passed Alodar grew more concerned, it was close to dawn nearly 17 hours had passed and yet the Kobold had not returned. It was still alive that was certain, Alodar only had 6 summons left, each was summoned with tracking and vital surveillance magic on them, while weak it still worked as long they hadn't left 100 kilometers. As the hour passed Alodar stood up looking to the south east. The Kobold had returned tired but uninjured. The Kobold quickly jogged over and spoke in a deep gravel like voice "My lord, sorry for my late return."
Alodar raised an eyebrow, surprised by the eloquence of the Kobold. "Its fine, however what took you so long?"
"My lord I have discovered some humanoids I believe to be responsible for the demise of your servant" The Kobold then pointed to the southeast. "They reside under a great canopy of trees, they seem to be a small community."
Alodar looked in the direction indicated by the Kobold, "Did you get a count of how many? How well armed? And why do you think that they are responsible for the Sun Souls death?"
The Kobold paused then spoke tentatively " They have over 400 members but the group I followed back seemed to be one of many. Most of the hunters are armed, nearly 100 of them. They all have spears and one bow with a few arrows per group. I think that the leader of each squad has a bow, which is why I believe them to have killed the Sun Soul, they were about 70 kilometers away."
Alodar nodded waving a hand to tell the Kobold to rest. Alodar presumed that if his guess was correct, they had maybe 600 or so members and wouldn't go too far from home, as long as he kept a close eye on the hunting parties, they wouldn't discover him anytime soon. As he had no basis for the strength of these locals, he would be cautious and observe. It hurt him none and might even be a welcome distraction to his long wait.
