The powerful elder on Mount Klieg

Peter run for a while and then climbed the tallest tree near him. He secured himself and hid on top of the tree. Several hours later some goblins approached the tree where he is hiding. They made sure that he sees them and then placed a 45 calibre gun and a couple of magazines, a sword, a shield and a bow and a quiver of arrows. After placing these items on the ground they sat down a dozen meters away.

They waited and waited until someone came down from the tree and picked up the gun.

However, Peter didn't stop at just pickung up the gun. He also picked up a magazine then loaded the gun and fired it at the nearby tree. He fired several shots and it seemed to calm him down.

Seeing Peter calm down made the goblins relax a little. Then they called their chief over.

The goblin walked slowly towards the human still wearing a silver necklace. He sat in front of his fellow goblins and waited for Peter to approach.

"Human you should be afraid of a monster that is trying to kill you." The goblin chief spoke in a gravelly voice. "Not someone who just want to talk to you."

"For the past few years ive spent most of my time with imaginary monsters." Peter began to speak with the goblin. "These monsters are scary. They are entirely different creatures. They look, speak and move like monsters. And by monsters I mean creatures that can only be perceived as a threat and nuisance at the same time. They are unlike wild animals that can be seen as cute or can even become pets."

The hand holding the gun trembled for a bit. It perfectly conveys his current messed up feelings at the moment.

"Goblin there are three things that you should know about the world where I came from. First, our world have been peaceful for a long time. Second, we have been used to label things. And third we have been used to ignore stuff." Peter's face turned solemn as he continued to speak.

"Our world has not experienced war for some time. That is why almost all of us have long since forgotten to use our fist. We would rather complain and sue for most things. Mainly because that's how our world is. Such actions has much more change of accomplishing things. There is also severe punishments for dealing with things physically instead of being civil." His hand still trembling while he placed the gun in his pocket.

"Secondly," he looked at the sword on the ground and picked it up. "we have a bad habit of naming everything. Not just objects but anything and everything. We call people who wakes up early an early bird. We call a lazy person an ass. We call an individual who acts not like us as animal. We have never stopped naming or labeling things. As for creatures that we can kill without feeling any guilt, we call them monsters."

Peter swing the sword for a bit and looked back at the goblin.

"As long as we have labeled something then that's it. For you goblins as long as we have labeled you as a monster then to us you are just a scary, lowly creature that must be killed. Something disgusting. Something that doesn't have value. It kinda makes it easier for us. The label that we have given you makes things simple. You don't have rights, youre just a monster. Even a human that is labeled can stop being a person or at least stop being treated as a person." Peter was still looking at the goblin but then he turned his focus on the shield and bow on the ground.

Peter looked at the shield and bow for several minutes. He hesitated for a moment and then picked up the shield. Banging the sword to the shield a couple of times seemed to increase his calm for a bit.

"If you did not speak then it you will just remain as a monster in my eye. Something ugly, scary and disgusting. Something that can be killed." Peter took one step closer to the goblin he called blub. "I was still feeling smug a while ago. I thought that im introducing you to the concept of trade. I thought that you are just a simple monster. You are scary but as long as I remain calm then I can outsmart you. And even if you manage to kill me. The life I have lived is always better than your life. My life has purpose. And I have been happy...once."

"human" blob looked and pointed to himself and then to peter. "You run because I spoke. Is it because I displayed intellect? And that im not a simple monster just as you imagined?"

"Yes. Monsters like you should only be acting based on hunger and instinct. But if you are sentient then that changes things. It makes you scarier. Knowledge has been our weapon. Its what made us the rulers of earth. Even with our weak bodies we were able to become the master of our world. Now you also have our weapon and you are a born warrior with instincts for killing."

"To make it more simple. If I threw a rock at a goblin and climbed a tree. The goblin will give up after sometime. But to those that can think there are other ways. They can ask for help, they can assess the situation, look for weapons or do something else. They can add purpose to their actions."

"I understand what you mean." The goblin stood up and approached.

"My name is klieg. That's also the name of this mountain. If you touch the land and introduce yourself then you will know the name of the ruler of that land. This world no longer belongs to humans. The rules have changed. If you want to help your people you need to understand the rules." klieg laughed. "But I wont tell you the rules."

A year after his meet with klieg the portal started becoming active. Every month ten to twenty humans appear in the clearing. Everyone that is summoned would climb a tree and meditate. They would stay up on the tree as much as possible and practice either the body refining path and the mana manipulation path. It usually takes them a week or two to reach level 1 in either cultivation path.

The goblins as if on cue would approach them when they are ready. A fight ensues in which most goblins die. But no matter how strong or how many the humans are or how good their coordination is, they cant kill all the goblins. A few goblins always escape.

Sometimes people make mistakes and die. Every time this happens, the survivors would go and look for the goblins village and attack. Every time this happens someone would knock them out and throw them in the fields. Even when they reach a higher level and went back they are still no match for that person.

The person that stops people from attacking goblin villages is human but doesn't practice either the body refining path and the mana manipulation path. He does not interfere in fights between goblins and monsters. Only acting when the humans attack the goblin village or when a human that was summoned doesn't want to fight.

This powerful elder does not speak to anyone and built a large territory in the goblin mountain. Any summoned human that chooses not to cultivate is welcomed into his territory. Anyone that has cultivated is automatically banned.

Steeve Mcgregor has heard of the mysterious human. As one of the powerhouses of Pilang City he decided to check him out.

Steeve Mcgregor is the twin brother of Ian Mcgreggor, who is the creator of 26 worlds. He was summoned into the world of Barr 12 years ago. There were 32 people summoned with him that day. People of all ages, both young and old were summoned. He woke up before anyone else and fearing that he was captured by terrorist, steeve dove into the nearest ditch that he can find and hid.

Minutes after he hid, the other people began to wake up. The rest of the people were woken up by the shrieks of goblins that attacked them. The fight between 32 humans versus 3 goblins was terrible. Three goblins died and only two humans survived. If you add Steeve who hid in advance, then that makes three human survivors.

The pair of siblings who survived were gravely injured. As soon as they lost consciousness several soldiers came out from the bushes and took the siblings away. Steeve noticed them while in hiding. The soldiers arrived with the goblins. These soldiers were the very ones who set the goblins loose on them.

"Clean up the area. Tomorrow we will summon more people." A tall soldier ordered the others. He watched as the other soldiers burned the bodies. When everything has turned to ash, he looked at a soldier and ordered. "Cody you will stay the night. Make sure no horned rabbit will enter this area."

Cody looked resentfully at his superior before raising his hand in salute. He walked to the tree near the ditch where Steeve is hiding from and began to set up camp.

Steeve observed Cody for a while. They have the same height, build and hair color. While looking at Cody, steeve formed a plan. Which he executed when night came.

Steeve managed to capture and tie up Cody while Cody was sleeping. He then proceeded to beat up Cody to learn things about this strange new world.

Cody talked about the appearance of the portals, the monsters, the other races and the cultivation methods of humans. Cody even talked about the real reason why he is forced to stay the night in the forest. That is because Cody has yet to become a level 1 cultivator.

Steeve asked many questions about Cody. His plan is to steal Cody's identity and infiltrate into the city. Newly summoned humans have a lot to prove and gets assigned the most dangerous missions. It takes many months of hard work before they eventually become citizens of a human city. But no matter how much they contribute to that city they will never be part of the core group, the city council.

Steeve spent five whole years before he became a member of the city council. Along the way he had to kill a lot of people who were a hindrance to his plans. The time when he eventually succeeded in joining the core group of the city was the time that he put the next phase of his plan into action.

Knowledge and resources that can only be obtained as a member of the city council can make a lot of difference. Steeve stole a lot and used it to buy knowledge of the elves from the black market. He combined it with all the forbidden knowledge he obtained from the core library to be able to modify the magic summoning circle.

A simple tweak and the magic summoning circle was used to contact Ian Mcgregor. That's when the third phase of the plan began.

Steeve stopped thinking of the past as he waited near the mountain. As a level seven mana manipulator his mere presence should cause the goblins to hide and never leave their village. After several seconds a figure approached him.

"Im Cody of Pilang mountain. A council member. 7th level mana manipulator." Steeve gave the basic introduction among cultivators.

"Im Archie. Not a cultivator. Im studying the goblins and creating my own path." Peter mixed truth and lie. Other people might not know but due to Alex being an annoying jerk, Peter knew a little bit about the Mcgregor family. The System even told him that the twin brothers, Ian and Steeve Mcgregor, has fiddled with the magic summoning circle. Its clear as day to Peter that Steeve is using an alias.

"As you are a human, we would appreciate it if you would help us protect the city during monster waves." - Steeve

"I need supplies." Peter replied curtly.

"We will deliver supplies every month. But you have to help out from time to time." - Steeve

"ok."
