Colours of the sky intensified its mingled shades as the sun ascends, the birds chant away their tunes as if nothing can go wrong. Above their heads, trees leaves elegantly dance like ballerinas on stage.
"hurry up glasses!" a cry in the distance shouted
"Don't call me glasses! I don't like you call me that!" Another voice echoed back.
A young girl dashed through a picturesque field of beauty. She was around 14; she had long, braided dull noir hair following her, she wore an unfastened tortilla long autumn jacket, underneath you could slightly see an ivory school uniform with a teal skirt. Behind her was a young boy around the same age as the girl, he had light coffee-coloured hair, he also had round, golden glasses, also wearing a uniform.
"Wait for me, Scarlett!" He screamed out into the beautiful meadow filled with perennials.
"I am waiting; I'm just running while waiting for you, Jaxon!" Scarlett yelled back swinging her head to view him.
"That makes a lot of sense! Totally! However, to my knowledge, waiting is when you stand still and wait for their arrival, and you are-" Jaxon shouted out before being cut off
"blah blah blah, keep that knowledge in school!! we are free at the moment, no adults, no rules, no school, no doctors, just us and freedom!" Scarlett roared out, raising up her arms into the pure air.
"thank you for reminding me, Scarlett! School is starting soon, and I do not want to be late! my parents will kill me," Jaxon yelled at Scarlett in panic "please can we turn back??"
Scarlet froze her body as Jaxon yelled out. The calming harmony songs paused. Silence. Jaxon kept running until he reached Scarlett, reaching out his hand to place on her shoulder but the thought stopped as Scarlett turned to face Jaxon, her face was dull with no expressions. She had no delight left on her face.
"what's wrong Scarlett?" he questioned examining her body language, his eyes observed as she lifted her hands exposing the gleaming sunlight to the item in hand. "what is that?" his eyes grew as a smile emerged on his face. "it's a flower, it has fully blossomed. Spring is starting! no more winter!" His face gleamed with happiness, then he lifted his head upwards her eyes, her face was pale, her eyes were fastened on the flower.
"Let's go," she spoke in a feeble voice.
"Where?"
"School, you wanted to go right?" her voice continued to be feeble, she morosely turned to face another direction.
"yes, however, you don't seem to be yourself, are you ok?"
"I am fine, now let us not be late, I don't want your parents to kill you Jaxon," Scarlett replied with a faint snicker.
"Alright then," Jaxon replied cluelessly "Let's go."
Slowly and gradually they tread back to the school side by side. Their palms were so close yet so far apart.
