Room

I sighed, breathing in and out while holding my hands up to my head, brushing against the strands of my rough tattered black hair. I do that whenever I feel like I'm about to break down, an unusual habit but at least it helps me cope.

I took a few steps forward, clanking noises went muffled by the sounds of others' footsteps. Quickly tearing my way through the crowd I made my way in front of a portal. It radiated a light captivating bluish-purple glow, like the vertical surface of water, or a swirling dark cyclone inviting dark omens, I couldn't really tell.

I stepped through the portal, it sucked my sides, closing in on me in every space, as if it was a little hesitant on letting me continue walking.

As I stepped off, I felt a weight suddenly leave me, like I was cleansed to some extent. Before me was around at least fifty other players, soon of which will all fall by my feet. I wouldn't say I'm confident but rather I'm way far past all the tension to care. I glanced around looking for people I recognized. I avoided friends, not quite because I'm introverted like I was a decade ago, but that did play a part. I didn't want to have my friends die by my hands either.

I examined the room- the same as all the other ones I've been in, the walls were washed in dark grey- but soon to be painted red. The floors barely reflected my shoes, a marble of some sort I confirmed. The room consisted of what seemed like an endless row of slots big enough for an all out battle for two people, the walls that separated them were made of this game's most indestructable material, gaphene. Once there is only one person in a slot, the next opens up, and so on.

We are at an intermission phase at the moment, and more players are starting to come in, until we reach a hundred people. I wonder how many rooms I have to rip through to get to the room of swords- or if that room even exists. I stretched out my left arm and a hologramic wall showed up, I took a look at my inventory, strength up boosts and all sorts of potions. My class was knight, boring obviously but it has it's advantages. I eyed my level, 297. One of the only good things that happened to me here in this world was I had a fresh start- and so did everyone else. Lawyers...Docters, no matter their occupation now they were at the mercy of a new world, one that I believe I can rise above.

-MATCH IS STARTING IN 00:30 SECONDS-

a hollow robotic voice announced, leaving me enough time to check what I have equipped-

-FIGHT-

The man in front of me fired an azure arrow aiming for my chest, I dodged before running closer to him. I swung my sword through the air, cutting that and his head off. Droplets of crimson pasted to what was left of him like parasites. He slowly slumped forward, hitting

the ground in a matter of seconds.

I slashed the air to my right so firm you could feel some wind, most of the blood splattered to the side and off my blade.

I finally wiped the rest of the blood clean with my kimono, one that has tasted the blood of many.

I paused for a moment, turning my back to see his azure arrow, it wasn't very expensive but did a good deal of damage, my eyes moved around his body, cheap armor and seemingly a good amount of skills he'd shown. I bet he had a family he wanted to return to.

The wall at the side of the room rose gently, leaving me no time to mourn another death, my next opponent was also finished with his side. I continued to walk ahead, meeting what would decide my fate.

I wonder..

If I die here some day will my enemy mourn my death too?
