Chapter 52

That night he was restless. He got up when he saw that Sneha was deep in sleep. He went to his writing table and wrote a long letter. When he finished it, he slid in next to her and slept.

It was an early morning flight, so he didn't bother Sneha. He got up to get ready to reach the airport an hour before at 5am. That morning when Sneha got up, she saw that Rohan had already left. She was upset and asked Ramona what time he left. This was weird. Sneha came back to her room and started getting ready for the day. She noticed the letter after taking a bath and rushed to open it. The envelope said:

"Open after two days.

-P.S. I Love You"

She found this strange. What was it that Rohan had to convey to her through a letter? Why couldn't he say it directly? But she honored his words, and kept the letter aside in a place where she could see it every time she entered her room. Her curiosity was compelling her to open the letter every time she saw it, but her principles overcame her curiosity.

Rohan reached City M in the afternoon. He wanted to call Sneha immediately upon landing, but instead he called his mother and informed her that he has reached his destination safely. He told her that he might stay in City M for a week or so and that he should not be disturbed.

He took a taxi to his apartment, which was nearly an hour away from the airport. City M distances and traffic can rattle any average commuter! Rohan was exhausted by the time he reached his apartment. He simply crashed onto the bed and went off to sleep. He got up in the evening at about 5pm. He prepared some tea for himself and went to the balcony to watch the seagulls and the ocean as the waves hit the shore. Fifteen minutes later he came back to his room and sat down with all his papers spread on the table. He was trying to figure out what had happened and to put things together so that they would make sense. However hard he tried, things appeared even messier than they already were. He called Mr Gupta to seek his opinion, and Mr Gupta asked him to come to dinner in a restaurant near his house to discuss things. Rohan complied with his suggestion and said he would be there by 8pm.

The restaurant had lovely red décor. The lighting was dim, suited to calming your mood. There wasn't much of a rush, but then it was early for the City Mkers. The manager of the restaurant, an overly painted lady, escorted Rohan with a smile to the table that was reserved for them. Mr Gupta was already present there sipping his single malt scotch. He ordered one for Rohan too. The lady left them alone.

"Sir, I am so confused, I want to know everything; how did this happen? I mean, a sexual harassment case! That is absurd. What was Stella thinking to file that against me? And how come she is missing? And if she isn't there, how will this case go forward? I have just got married. What will my wife think?"

This barrage of questions was pretty much expected. Gupta asked Rohan to lower his voice. He didn't want to create a stir here in public.
