The Troubled Mechanic

While Eve has been happily playing with trashed and abandoned machinery underground for the past 20 years, fixing and learning about stuff from Sirobo and emergency repair manuals she has found in the rubble. She has finally accomplished completion in the task of making a small and compact portable device for Sirobo, and then she proceeded to 'formally' begin her education in how to repair stuff.

Far aboveground someone is not having such a good time as Eve has been recently...

"Beltrain! Beltrain were going to the surface soon! Look sharp. Were here for an important salvage operation. Put that bottle down will you!" Shouted Beltrains boss, Huhgeo as he kicked the bottled alcoholic beverage called Aunt Teresa's Terran Tears out of Beltrains left hand.

"What the fuck man! I'm nervous can't I drink a little?" Beltrain said as he dropped to the ground trying to scoop up the spilt alcohol with his hands, and only managing to cut up his hands with the glass shards as the liquid seeped out of his hands and dropped back down to the grimy floor where the rest of the liquid lay.

Huhgeo looked at his subordinate knelt on the ground like a dirty dog, and scoffed at him.

What the hell happened to his once competent and ingenius mechanic from the styx of the galaxy.

The one who crawled his way up out of the slums of Eltero, the half human who didnt show signs of humanities corruptions.

He sighed, maybe this guy was bound to end up like this. But still, didnt he end up this way because his lizard-like girlfriend broke up with him for a Altoran male? What was the big deal?

Knelt on the ground, his hands stinging from the alcohol that oozed into the newly cut gashes on his hands.

Tears began to well up in his eyes, in his 25 years of living he had never hit such rock bottom as this.

Trying to drink himself to death, and then still trying to do that even when the alcohol was on the floor full of dirt and glass shards.

Where had he gone wrong? Just where?

Huhgeo waited for about 3 earth minutes, before coming over and picking the young man up by his work uniforms rough collar, and pulling him up to look him directly in the face.

" Listen, get you act together or I'll dump you on this forsaken planet, and leave you to the native people and the ghost mecha..." Huhgeo said, he obviously knew that he himself was bluffing, but little did he know that the surrounding workers under himself did not see it that way.

This event sent the wheels of fate turning in motion, and it was the beginning and the end of Beltrains downfall.

Beltrain swiftly shook himself out of Huhgeo's

grasp, and sent him a look his way.

In his eyes was a spark of anger, and the beginning of belligerence.

" I got it boss, I wont do it again. And I'm ready for the job whenever it comes." Beltrain declared as he kicked the largest shard of glass away, and turned around and began to stalk off.

Huhgeo looked at Beltrains back as he stormed off and out of view. A tinge of sadness and mirth were both seen in his eyes before he turned to look and address the other workers in the room.

" I'm abit disappointed in him lately, I hope you all can help steer him back on the right path." Huhgeo said, singling out three workers in particular in his gaze.

The three workers looked at each other and nodded slightly to each other before the tallest one of them stated, " Dont worry, well make sure he doesn't cause anymore harm here..."

Huhgeo looked at Dakjeet puzzled for a second before shaking his feelings off.

Surely his subordinates ment to stop Beltrain from causing anymore harm to himself as well right?

His workers were all very close with each other and would never intentionally cause conflict with each other. That was what Huhgeo sincerely thought.

How he was he would never find out...

After storming off, Beltrain felt kind of guilty for the way he had brushed off his bosses concern for him. His boss did help pull him out of the gutter and help him pursue his dreams in mechanicary.

He released a small but heavy sigh, before beginning to organize his personal workspace and clean and polish up some pieces he had recently finished.

About an hour later, one of his coworkers came up to him while he was writing down notes in his latest order piece.

"Hey Beltrain, you been looking kinda rough lately, do you mind hearing me out?" Asked Ashweena, of the Kereeana race.

Her big green and bulging bulbous eyeballs looked like that of an earth frog, and her skin was a pastey pale yellow and always remained oily even after she claimed to gave recently washed.

She wasnt a bad person Beltrain told himself, she just wasnt easy on the eyes.

Ashweena seemed to notice his judgemental gaze and blushed a bit, before stuttering out " Well, I was wondering if you wanted to pair of with Ramone, Heliop, Dakjeet, and me for the upcoming salvage job... If you dont want to it's fine. We're just short a person and when I asked if they thought you were a good fit, they instantly agreed with me so I thought I should definitely come and ask you is all..."

Beltrain felt bad for being so judgemental, he was just like his ex girlfriend if he kept acting like this... he decided to say yes to try and make it up to her.

"Yeah sure that sounds fine. Thankyou for thinking of me, I've been kinda down lately and I appreciate the thought." Beltrain flashed a big sharp whitetoothed smile at Ashweena hoping she'd accept his cover apology.

" Ah, um, okay. I mean that's great! I'll message Ramone that you said yes. I think Salvage begins in 4 earth hours. I'll see you then." Ashweena exclaimed as a frog like smile appeared in her face and happiness was exuded from her whole being as she turned around and hurriedly skipped away while typing up a message on her wrist communicator.
