At the Asotea

"I am certain of what I saw," Ana Rosa trembled as she reaches for a glass of water offered to her by her husband

"Stray animals sometimes find themselves roaming the front lawn," Teniente Leon answers with a concern look

Ana Rosa stubbornly shakes her head in disagreement. Her delicate hands now clutching the glass of water;

"It was not an animal, that I am sure of," she pauses, "unless, burned animals can still live and run away when disturbed in this province"

Lieutenant Leon shrugs off his shoulder as he sits at the edge of her bed holding the jar of water. At the door there stands Ditas and another maid exchanging looks of disbelief

Outside the door there stands Teo with his ears against the wooden walls.
