"Hey Mom! Get up you are going to be late for your interview today!"

I sighed as I got no response and finished putting on my shoes before I wandered up the spiral staircase and into my mothers room.

"Mom! Get up! Grandpa won't let us stay here forever. You need to get up so we can afford to stay here without him getting mad!"

I reached over her and pulled her covers away from her face and what I saw caused me to let out a gastly scream. After what felt like and eternity, my grandfather

ran into the room.

"Jade what happened?!"

And then he saw it: the lifeless body of my mother. His knees gave out and he fell to the hardwood floor. I tried to release the covers and make my way over to my

grandfather but I was frozen in place. I could not move a muscle. Tears began to stream down my face as I stared at my mother's cold, dead face. At seeing me cry

for the first time since my father passed away, six years ago, my grandfather picked himself off the floor and came over to me and pryed my hand from the blanket

and tried his best to lead me into the foyer.

"I don't know what caused this, Jade, but we will find out and in the meantime I will call your school and tell them the situation. I want you to go up to

your room and lay down, before the realization really hits you, alright? I'll have Laine come check on you later as I have a few meetings later on this afternoon.

I'll also have her bring you up some food. Go lay down."

He called for Laine, the woman who cooked all our meals and also helped take care of me when mom was sick, to help make sure I made it to my room and help me get

into my night clothes. As she rounded the corner into the foyer, I saw the concern in her eyes and immediately ran into her arms and cried as she lead me back

up the steps to my door, whch she opened as I could do nothing but cry.

"It'll be alright, dear child. Your grandfather has many contacts and will do his best to find out what happened to your beloved mother."

Oh how I wanted to believe her kind words. I really did, but I knew better. I knew that it would not be solved, because she was just fine last night when she

went to bed. Little did I know that my mother was just the first of many I was going to lose.
