Chapter 3 Risks And Rewards

When the gecko was fully absorbed another blue screen (congratulations on absorbing your first foreign species the banded gecko since this is your first time as a reward you have gained 500dp and a full recovery of your mana good luck). Anthony beamed as he saw the rise in he now had 503dp Anthony checked his menu Anthony could afford a bark scorpion spawn point but he wasn't really interested in them. The problem was if Anthony bought a bark scorpion it would stand out like a sore thumb. Anthony honestly would love a new elemental monster but he couldn't just buy one the only thing he could do was absorb new monsters from invaders. The problem was he was in the basement of a school he could create a new entrance but that could quite literally result in the death of children. Anthony decided that instead of an entrance like the one he has maybe one that small animals like mice, snakes, and squirrels could fit through would be less of a hazard to the children.

Anthony checked the description of the banded gecko it seems they were tiny predators themselves they ate fly's and other insects. One banded gecko cost weirdly enough 20dp that was a very high cost for a prey animal. Anthony still decided to buy five for 100dp once again three females and two males who knows perhaps most predatory animals monster or not will be expensive. Anthony created another den for the geckos in the roof of his core room for 17 mana. Before working on the new mini entrance Anthony decided to branch out his tunnel system he wanted more then just an L to defend him. Anthony focused his mana into the midsection of the the entrance and the turn the earth gradually changed to match what he wanted then the tunnel expanded. This tunnel unlike the original curved left to right like a squiggly line he eventually hooked back towards the original tunnel it eventually ended with a small hole to the surface he also filled the tunnel with sand and the occasional pool of water. The tunnel added another 48 meters to the dungeon Anthony wiped the sweat off his imaginary brow he had used a total of 186 mana leaving him with 47 mana now all he could do was wait for invaders.

Anthony surprisingly didn't have to wait long as a couple ants entered they seemed interested in his sand. Anthony sent one of the geckos down the tunnel to kill an ant as they would be the food source of his geckos and other possible insectivores. The new gecko made once again record timing to Anthony these geckos were unusually fast maybe they were always this fast. Anthony watched as the gecko just stepped on one of the smaller ants he immediately gained 1dp and he absorbed it gaining access to the species black garden ant. Anthony checked it's dp cost was 4dp for one ant there was a second option though 15dp for black garden ant queen. Anthony bought three queens and bought five ants for a total of 105dp putting him down to 299dp he distributed them by three separate cacti. Most of the animals Anthony spawned eat the cacti the mice do and now so will the ants until he gains more insects. Anthony watched as the five ants each queen had began to dig into the wall he switched his view back to the new entrance. The new entrance was slowly being encroached on by the original black garden ants of which the banded gecko was eating Anthony sent the other geckos to join him.

Anthony spent 250dp on another ice elemental spawn point he put it in the new tunnel it spawned in one of the already made pools of water a newly born ice elemental floated to the top of the pool. The new ice elemental seemed content to float around the water pool. Anthony spent the remaining dp on ten cacti to populate the new tunnel. Anthony decided his new goal was to fill his dungeon pools with pink rimmed lilly pads they would bring new life into the dungeon if he gained any fishes or aquatic monsters. Anthony returned to viewing the new dungeon entrance a new creature had entered this time it looked like a normal crow. While Anthony looked at the crow he realized that it only looked like a normal crow the closer you got the more obvious it was that this crow should not be moving that's right the crow was an undead.

The crow slowly pulled itself through the small entrance and hopped down to the floor the crows movements were slow it was obviously having trouble moving. The crow was missing a couple toes and had lost splotches of feathers here and there It's eyes were a milky pale like it was blind. The crow slowly waddled down the tunnel looking around here and there though it was looking around it wasn't really paying attention to the water it was walking through as a result it wandered into the ice elementals pool. The elementals response was something new instead of attacking with an ice ball it just froze the water the crow was stepping in effectively trapping it. The crow struggled to get out by pecking at the ice Anthony just sent his oldest earth elemental to repeatedly shoot rocks at the crows head until it is permanently dead.

Speaking of earth elementals a new one just spawned and joined in the march where the first left. Anthony watched as the earth elemental dutifully marched down the tunnels no matter stood in his way water rain ice or snow he marched on through the world he once called home. Okay sorry I made it overly dramatic but why not i mean there's barely anything to do as a dungeon core. By the time the earth elemental made it to the crow almost an hour had passed the crows lower body was covered in frost it kept squawking in what i assume is pain if it can even feel pain. The earth elemental started firing rocks at its head the crow tried to protect itself with it's wings but that only prolonged the inevitable. The crow finally died when a stone pierced through it's head Anthony gained 20dp and absorbed the crow. (Congratulations on surviving your first monster invader you have gained access to the monster rotten crow 500dp and another full recovery on your mana as always good luck surviving).

Anthony smiled or at least felt like he was as he purchased another earth elemental spawn point and placed it in the tunnel with the ice elemental spawner this put his dp from 528dp to 278dp he also ordered his oldest earth elemental to come back. While Anthony waited for his earth elemental he checked the number of pools in his dungeon there were a total of 17 most of which were quite small like the one he put the ice elemental spawn point in. Anthony spent another 119dp on 17 pink rimmed lilly pads Anthony putting him down to 159dp. Anthony checked the rotten crows description these crows have arisen from the dead to attack the living cost 45dp for one 225dp for a spawn point.

Anthony wanted to connect his pools together and make it more like a creek was running through his entire dungeon with strips of land on both sides. Anthony looked back at the entrance to see the five geckos have finished eating and crawled into one of the corners to nap he once again carved out a resting spot for them in the ceiling which they entered and went to sleep or rather they just stood there eyes open. Anthony checked the entrance as all that squawking might of attracted something and sure enough there was a bony hand reaching through the hole. Anthony was very thankful he had made the hole small so the skeleton couldn't enter even if skeletons were weak it wouldn't matter how strong it was if it got to those kids. The skeleton stayed reaching in like this until it was suddenly yanked out Anthony could hear growling outside the hole as what ever grabbed the skeleton wasn't alone.

Anthony looked at the invading black garden ants it seems that they hadn't lost much from the geckos eating them and instead of leaving like any sane creature would they had moved into the dungeon and were nesting by one of the cacti in the entryway. Anthony checked his earth elementals position and found it was in the final stretch slowly turning down the tunnel to where he was. Anthony watched as the mice went to greet it circling him as he slowly marched foreword.
