Chapter 7 Upgrades And the New Monster

Three uneventful days had passed since the teacher incident Anthony's monsters had grown in number from ten to twenty two. Anthony's dp had also grown from 149dp to 242dp most came from the 25dp he gains each day a small portion had come form the multiple invading animals. Anthony had focused on increasing his dungeons wideness these past couple days he had increased it from eighteen feet across to twenty seven feet. Anthony seemed to have found a point in which he couldn't expand his dungeon anymore well at least horizontally he could still increase his length and hight.

Anthony could now afford a overgrown salamander spawn point for 175dp but the question was where to put it. Anthony could think of three good places for the spawn point one was next to the hole that was still pumping water and some invaders into his dungeon. Anthony figured if he put the spawn point here he wouldn't have to worry about food for them. The second spot was near the other small entrance at the turn earlier in the dungeon. Since traffic through that entrance had slowed down Anthony would have to worry about food though. The third spot was a little ways infront of his dungeon core there they could act as another line of defense albeit a weak one. Anthony decided to pick the first one once he picked and placed it putting him down to 67dp a small screen informed him the spawn point should spit out one overgrown salamanders every twelve hours.

The spawn point appeared to be a small den under the water the den curved upwards and then evened out. Anthony also noticed that there was no water inside the den it was basically an air pocket. Anthony turned from looking at the overgrown salamander spawn point to checking the rest of his animals and monsters. The gar were doing their usually routine of swimming from one end of the dungeon to the other one. The crawfish mostly kept to themselves they had taken up residence in one of the many crevices in the creek bed. The catfish roamed the creek bed they would sometimes stop and rest in the many dens Anthony had made. The other fish didn't stray far from the bundles of aquatic plants he noted that he would need to purchase many more aquatic plants to help encourage natural behavior.

Anthony had spent today's mana on making three small islands in the middle of the creek at various points in the dungeon while increasing the ceilings height around the islands. Anthony purchased three willow trees planting one on each of his new islands. The willow trees appeared just like his other purchased plants did as fully grown trees their branches forming their signature dome of long then leaves around the tree. Anthony was now down to 22dp since each willow tree cost 15dp he decided to spend the rest of his dp on a couple aquatic plants. The willow trees had grown to be about sixteen feet tall but stopped as there wasn't any room to grow bigger but they were still impressive to Anthony. Anthony was now out of both mana and dp so all he could do is wait the original earth and ice elementals were the only ones still circling him. The other elementals were roaming throughout the dungeon but these two always stayed near him.

The day was slowly passing by when Anthony could feel something crawling through the second entrance. Anthony hastily checked the second entrance to see it wasn't an undead this time. The creature that crawled through the hole was a armadillo except it's body was was almost entirely covered with some kind of dark green metal it also had a spike sticking out of its head. The spike as Anthony called it since it didn't really appear to be horn was rather small at around only three inches long. The armadillos claws were slightly curved when they were held together they looked like miniature shovels. The armadillo lifted it's head looking around before it preceded further down the tunnel avoiding the water the armadillo continued on the walkway by the water.

Anthony's elementals were quick to respond as four earth and six ice elementals were slowly approaching the armadillo. Anthony watched as the armadillo slowly made it's way through the dungeon when something Anthony didn't expect happened. The recently spawned overgrown salamander did what you'd have expected a crocodile to do with surprising speed it grabbed on to the armadillos left rear leg and dragged it into the creek. The overgrown salamander focused on pulling the panicking armadillo down towards one of the underwater dens. The armadillo drowned long before the elementals got to the location. Anthony hastily absorbed the armadillo and was promptly hit with two notifications. Notification one (Congratulations you have obtained the new monster naturite armadillo and the resource naturite ore can now be placed throughout the dungeon). (Congratulations you've leveled up you are now level two and have gained access to the decorations tab in the dungeon menu as always good luck surviving).

While the level up didn't provide much of a change to his status the increase in mana and the new decoration tab were very much appreciated. Anthony opened up the decoration tab in the dungeon menu.

Decorations menu

1 Wall scones light source provides light by an everlasting white flame cost 10 mana for one.

2 Small waterfall does exactly what a waterfall does 40 mana for one.

3 Bones of all kinds place them to give intruders a look at what awaits them in the future cost varies on which type of bone you pick.

4 Glowing crystals a more natural alternative to the wall scones 10 Mana for one.

Anthony had his Mana restored from the level up so he immediately spent two hundred mana on glowing crystals. Anthony begin by placing one glowing crystal every ten meters while the dungeon wasn't bright by any means it was dimly lit. Anthony was feeling greatly relieved now that there was light in his dungeon he didn't have to worry about his residents losing their eyes to the mutation skill. Anthony once again checked the glowing crystals before checking the naturite armadillos description. Naturite Armadillo these creatures are known for their excellent defense but slow speed. Weirdly enough naturite armadillos are also known to be a sign that precious metals and other rare resources are nearby cost 72dp for one 360dp for a spawn point. The naturite armadillos were roughly around the same price as the ice spike scorpions which surprised Anthony. Anthony considered the naturite armadillos strength and eventually thought maybe the monster just wasn't able to show it's prowess in his dungeons environment.

A few hours have passed since Anthony started studying his new options and using his mana. Anthony couldn't put off the newest ability he gained which was being able to create naturite the thing was it was very expensive which he found out the hard way. When Anthony tried to create a nugget the size of a American quarter he needed to spend thirty mana to do it. The naturite nugget popped into existence it's dark green metallic body seemed to glow a tiny bit every couple of minutes. Anthony inspected it but he honestly didn't know what to do with it so he had it tossed into the creek by one of the mice. Anthony watched as it sank to the bottom of the creek as he watched it the recently spawned overgrown salamander made another appearance as it scooped the naturite nugget into his mouth and swallowed it then wondered off.

Anthony spent the rest of the day on making another branching path about thirty meters ahead of the first one. The new tunnel continued in an s shape for about 17 meters before ending since Anthony didn't have the mana to keep expanding it. Anthony spent the next hour inspecting the tunnel while water slowly filled the new creek path in. While Anthony inspected the cave he spent 40dp on four snapping turtles two males and females they were spread out around the dungeon. Anthony spent his last 27dp on more plants to flesh out the new area in his opinion his dungeon was coming along nicely.
