The Competition Begins

Meng Hao finished practicing the 3 Martial Art Skills after 1 week and their power was immense. While he practiced, he also learned how to make his body heavier or lighter during battle so he could maximize the effectiveness of his attacks.

The Myriad Piercing Bow Arts's power was shocking, every time he shot an arrow it would pierce the air with shocking speed and power. The Void Movement Art was enhanced by the Divine Suppressing Physique and its ability to control the body weight, allowing him to have better control when doing sudden turns by increasing his weight for a second then decreasing it the next second. The same thing for the Asura Slashing Knife Arts as he could be fast for a second but suddenly the power of the knife can increase by making his body weight heavier.

Today was the day of the Skywood City Competition, it was mandatory for everyone who awakened their Martial Spirits to participate in the competition and those who don't show up are usually punished. No one except the top people in the clans knows why it is mandatory to compete in the tournaments but no one questions it because the competition has been going on since the founding of Skywood City.

Meng Hao cultivation increased to Qi Sensing Stage 9 and he was confident he would get picked up by one of the 3 Great Sects watching to competition, the Wilderness Spirit Sect, the Primal Spirit Sect, and the Verdant Alchemy Sect.

Meng Hao wanted to join the Verdant Alchemy Sect because he would be able to get herbs easier and make the Ascendant Spirit Pills and upgrade his Martial Spirits. Although the Pills herbs were common and they allowed one to upgrade their Martial Spirit, you need a Cultivation Technique that can upgrade martial spirits. Cultivation Techniques that can upgrade martial spirits are insanely rare.

Meng Hao reached the place where the Competition was taking place and saw geniuses and regular kids from all of the clans gathering into their specified positions. When Meng Hao walked towards the area where the Meng Clan resided in all he received were faces of disdain.

Meng Da, the son of the Meng Clan Patriarch walked towards Meng Hao with a face of disdain. "Well look who it is, the Shame of the Clan. You should just take the punishment for not showing up because you will just be an embarrassment to the Clan."

Meng Hao didn't respond causing Meng Da to become more aggressive "Meng Hao you were supposed to be the genius of the clan, are you too scared to respond. I am sure your father is sad to see his son grew into such a coward. Since your father is dead why don't you be filial and kill yourself as well."

This touched Meng Hao's bottom line, he stood up and punched Meng Da's chest. He started decreased his strength with the Divine Suppressing Physique causing the punch to do less damage.

The other kids who were laughing at Meng Hao were all in shock, didn't he just have 3 Human Rank 1 Martial Spirits, why was he so powerful. Meng Da looked at Meng Hao with a face filled with anger "I have a Human Rank 4 Spirit... I am the Patriarchs son, How dare you punch me!!!"

Meng Da was about to attack Meng Hao when a voice surrounded the entire arena "Welcome to the Skywood Younger Generation Competition. Today we have Elder Tu from the Wilderness Spirit Sect, Elder Po from the Primal Spirit Sect, and Elder Ru from the Verdant Alchemy Sect."

The elder man greeted the patriarchs and elders then turned his attention back to the competition " the first round is the Heaven's Stairs Challenge and the second round is the 1v1s Competition. The Heaven's Road is a challenge which requires one to climb the 20 stairs and reach the doorway at the end of the road, if completed you move to the second round. BEGIN!"

The event suddenly started and people jumped from their seats and started running down the pathway. But everyone who even took one step into the road felt a pressure push down on them, many had to activate their martial spirits on the second or third steps.

Meng Hao saw the challenge and thought "Hmm... this challenge seems very similar to the challenge Daoist Yin-Yang did during his chance encounter with a treasure... except that was 1000 times worse."

Meng Hao stepped on the first step and felt nothing, he stepped on the second step and felt nothing, then the 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th. He didn't feel any pressure until the 19th step. When Meng Hao stepped on the 19th step he looked over and Ouyang Ru and Meng Da struggling to breach the doorway. Ouyang Ru looked over and saw Meng Hao simply step into the doorway like it was nothing.

Everyone who was watching saw that Meng Hao easily crossed every step. The Meng Clan were on their feet and even the elders from the 3 Great Sects had their eyebrows lifted in surprise. Elder Ru from the Verdant Alchemy Sect asked "Who are you boy? I am not sure what it is but I feel the essence of fire gathering around you."

The Meng Clan Patriarch started sweating because he offended Meng Hao many times and he was afraid that Meng Hao might kill him later. Patriarch Ouyang Tu also started to worry, Meng Hao was supposed to be trash and die in the first seconds if the tournament but he suddenly caught the attention of the Verdant Alchemy Sect, if he joined them it would ruin everything.

Meng Hao cupped his hands and bowed "I am Meng Hao but I do not have any ties with the Meng Clan. Elder, I have a flame bloodline from my mother and I learned a little alchemy from some books my father left me."

Meng Hao activated his flame and hid the aura of the Royal Divine Pheniox Bloodline. Every elder gave a face of shock, a bloodline was something rarely seen anywhere and a bloodline suited for alchemy is something every alchemy sect desired.

Ouyang Ru and Meng Da had already crossed the doorway and they saw that Meng Hao wasn't powerless and they saw that Elder Ru took notice of Meng Hao. Ouyang Ru's was terrified that Meng Hao might ask the elder to kill her and as so she shouted: "MASTER KILL HIM!"

But Elder Tu just shook his head at Ouyang Ru "I am sorry, but if I kill this boy I will be offending their Verdant Alchemy Sect and my sect will definitely punish me."

Elder Ru spoke "Meng Hao is now a disciple of our Sect, no one is allowed to touch him. Meng Hao, we will leave now." Elder Ru was screaming with joy in her head. She wondered how greatly she will be awarded if she brings back Meng Hao to the sect.

Meng Hao bowed again and said, "Elder Ru, please let me fight this girl or else my heart will not be appeased."

He turned his attention to Ouyang Ru " Let's have a fight to the death and end our little feud. No one is allowed to interfere even if either one of us dies."

Ouyang Ru started smiling maliciously and she activated her 'Crimson Fox' Martial Spirit and she said "I accept those conditions. You are destined to die today."
