Chapter 4 More Truths

Okay on the last chapter, a new boy arrived who happens to know me, my mum started acting like she's the president of the tired women universe, and I, I'm totally confused.

Today, I took the bus to school, I'm pretty sure you know why. As I got down from the bus, I was approached by the new guy, Raphael.

"Hey P good morning!".

"uhm, can you stop greeting, it's awkward" I said.

"Okay, I know you don't remember me.....".

"Remember?!" I cut in, "I don't know you!"

"Okay, fine, I know you don't know me, but just give me a chance to introduce myself all over again."

I stopped and gave him a chance to speak

"Okay, you have 5 minutes, your time starts now."

"Okay." he starts "My name is Raphael Brown, I'm the son of Senator Brown, and I would like to be your friend if you would let me."

I thought I could give him a chance, after all, he looks like he needs someone to help him.

"Okay, fine but you have to stop following me around."

"Got it."

Yes I became friends with the new boy, I got him a seat in my class, introduced him to Ade and my new friends at lunch. We all had lunch together. After lunch, the principal orders all the students to visit their various clubs in preparation for the upcoming club day. A day all the clubs get to present something in the name of the school, except for my club. They all went to their various clubs for a meeting, my club didn't call a meeting, why am I not surprised🤷. Louis and I were left alone, he has refused to join any club, he believes school clubs adds no value to your living.

There was a moment of silence for a while, then I broke the silence.

"So, no club uhn" I said

"Yeah, clubs are shit."

"But you do know it's kinda necessary to join a club."

"Yeah I know, I got my way of doing things, just you got your way of doing things with your friends."

Okay, did he just talk about the MIXES?

"you mean The MIXES?" I asked

" hmm, apparently they hold the key to your life."

Wait, what's going on, is he angry over something or what? oh! I know, the junior school shit.

"wait, is this about what happened in junior school?😕"

"well let's see, is it?"

I knew it was totally about the whole junior school crush thing, turns out he's still angry.

"okay, you can't blame me," I continued "I was what then? maybe 12 years old, I didn't know how it feels to like a guy okay, I was..."

"apparently, your friends did" he cuts in.

My friends did? what is he talking about?

"what do you mean my friends did?" I asked.

"so you didn't know?"

" know what?"

"wow! you have friends indeed. your friends threatened me, they were going to release a picture of my mum undressed if I refuse to stop sending you letters.".

What!? I'm totally confused right now.

"what do you mean? the MIXES threatened you?"

There was an awkward moment of silence, I didn't know what to say, I didn't know they did that, all I knew was that he stopped the letters after the MIXES promised me they were going to handle everything.

"Okay, I'm so sorry they did that to you, I never knew. I'm so sorry." I apologized.

" it's okay, just felt I should let you know that I really liked you then and that it's cool that you're some distance away from them cause trust me baby, they goan ruin you."

While I was thinking of the response to give in this kind of unusual situation, the the bell rang and everyone was out of their meeting zone. I was dumbfounded for hours, thinking of why the MIXES would actually threaten a guy that likes me without letting me know, totally absurd. Raphael noticed the whole situation and mood, so he asked

"hey! everything alright?"

I didn't say anything, I couldn't think straight.

"You maybe wanna grab a coffee after school?" he asked again, this time trying to tease me cause he knew I was gonna say no.

"Are you serious? Coffee? I'm in the middle of a dilemma right now and y....."

"Yeap! there you go!." he cuts you, "that face you make when something is up and you just can't keep it inside you and then you let it all out. I miss that face.

😕 What is he talking about? "what are you talking about?" I asked.

He gave me that look a mum gives her daughter when having a conversation about boys 🤨. So I let it all out

"Okay fine. My friends made a fool out of me, they did something behind my back which was about me, and I wanna know why they kept such away from me. I'm just so confused right now."

"Hmm, I see, so now you hate your friends?". he asked

" Of course not, why will I hate my friends "

"Come on! let it out, let the hate out."

Let the hate out? that's the worst advice you can give to an angry mob. I chuckled and said "you are probably the worst therapist on earth."

"True tho, but I made you smile."

He did made me smile tho☺️

"Okay, whatever."

"Look, they are your friends, you should let them know what you think of what they did, let your mind out to them, they'll understand you if they are truly your friends."

That actually made me feel better. I'm starting to like the company of boys.

"But we should totally grab a coffee after school." And he ruined the moment.

I thought if what Raphael said went to meet the MIXES.

"Hey girls, how have you been doing?" I asked with a charisma

They all gave me cold responses. Not minding, I continued.

"Okay, just to let you know, I spoke with Louis from junior school, and..."

"what!" Mitchy said " I thought he said he wasn't going to speak to you again?"

Oh! so they were actually going to speak after all.

"Okay, he told me what you guys did, and I think it was totally uncool. Why didn't you tell me? I mean, we're friends right?"

They were all speechless, they knew they did the wrong thing; well that was what I thought until Teni spoke.

"Okay babe, we did nothing wrong, we just helped you out, he was disturbing you and we couldn't take it any longer. So you should be thanking us." Everyone agreed with are, even the new MIXES.

"what? thank you? you guys threatened the poor boy, that's a punishable offence in the school, it's called bully."

"wait, so you're blaming us?" Camille said, "You were not even good for him, you were boring for a guy like him."

I was boring?😕 no one has ever told me that.

"Are you serious? I can't take this." I said and walked out. Turned out my friends aren't actually my friends. They almost ruined me. I just couldn't help but get angry, and out of it, I removed myself from the official MIXES page.

Raphael and I went out for a coffee after school hoping it would brighten my mood.

"So how'd it go?" he asked.

"oh! it went well, I'm done with them."

"you broke up with your friends? when I said let the anger out I didn't mean this."

"Look, just forget, I'm good now and that's all that matters. So let's talk about you uhn, you're new and you've probably been to a lot of places."

"Oh, yeah I'm new but I'm not new to you " hesaid

"here we go again, come on!"

"Okay okay, well, I'm not a fan of travelling since I almost lost my twin sis when we were 6."

"o my God, I'm so sorry. Where is she now?"

"Well she's with my mum probably wondering where her brother is."

Okay now I'm confused. "Your mum? wasn't she at school yesterday with your dad when you arrived?" I asked.

" it's complicated. Okay let's talk less about me and more about you."

" Okay okay, I don't really know but sometimes I feel there's a part of my life that I can't remember. My mum told me my dad died when I was two, still don't believe her tho. I feel like she's always hiding things from me. if my dad is alive, I wish to meet him."

" Wow, your mum is the mum of the year." he said sarcastically

I giggled "stop." I said.

We had a long conversation until it was 3 pm in the afternoon. "I gotta go, my mum would be worried sick."

"Alright, but can I say something before you leave?" he asked.

" sure"

"I miss you."

Okay, that was awkward. "Yeah, uhm I'll see you tomorrow."

I left, got home and met my mum doing Yoga. " oh hey honey! how was school?"

"Mum? okay I'm starting to think you are not a nurse."

" Honey I'm on live, I forgot to tell you."

I don't believe her. I'm going to find out what she's up to. "Your food's in the kitchen." she yelled.
