Chapter 8

Drinking a black coffee made Brett a little sobered but he's still dizzy. Aly guided him towards her car. He sat at the front seat while Tyler and Caden at the back.

"What happened to Uncle Brett, Mom." Caden asked while on their way home.

"He's drunk, baby." Aly answered.

"Why?" Caden said.

"He drank beer." Aly replied.

"What is a beer, Mom?" Caden asked curiously.

"It is an alcoholic drink that makes people feel dizzy and nauseated." Aly said smiling.

"You mean, Uncle Brett drank alcohol, the one we're using in the bath?" Caden asked that made Aly and Tyler laughed. Brett, even with his eyes closed, was listening to the mother and son's discussion and he can't stopped smiling hearing Caden's talkativeness.

"No baby, it's different." Aly said. The alcohol we're using in the bath is a disinfectant while the alcohol drank by Uncle Brett was a beer." Aly continued.

"Can I drink it too?" Caden asked.

"Yes, but not now. You can have it when you grow older." Aly replied.

"Okay." Caden said and decided to keep quiet.

"Sweetheart, call Harper and tell her that we're coming with his dad." Aly said talking to Tyler.

"Okay, Mom." Tyler replied and dialled Harper's number.

When they reached Brett's home, Nanny Laura immediately opened the gate. Harper and Aria were outside waiting for them.

"Auntie Aly, what happened to dad?" Harper asked.

"He's drunk but he's okay. He's only dizzy but tomorrow he'll be fine." Aly said smiling.

Aly went to the other side of the car to help Brett.

"I'm sorry." Brett said. Aly smiled.

"Let's go inside so you can rest." Aly said.

Brett stood up from the seat. Aly supported him by lending again her shoulders.

Harper, Tyler, Caden, and Aria were left at the dining room. Nanny Laura prepared a light meal for them.

Brett and Aly proceeded to his room.

"Thank you." Brett said while sitting on the edge of his bed.

"No worries. My brothers were the ones who made you like that." Aly said.

"I had fun, I can't remember when was the last time I drank." Brett said.

"Are you okay now? We'll go home so that the kids can have their rest too. It's Monday tomorrow." Aly said.

"Oh, okay, I'm sorry again and thank you." Brett said and Aly smiled.

Brett tried to stand up so he can change his clothes but to his dismay, his world begun to turn around again. He's expecting to hit the floor but he was surprised when Aly was already beneath him. They were both lying on his bed.

Aly was moving towards the door when she saw Brett trying to stand up. When she saw that he wobbled, she hurriedly reached him and hugged him then, she lost her balance letting their bodies fell down on his bed.

Brett looked at Aly intently. He can feel the softness of her body making his dragon below to react.

Aly was feeling uncomfortable to Brett's gaze and to his body above her. She could feel his manliness starting to become alive.

Suddenly, Brett kissed Aly. He wasn't able to stop himself to taste the lips that was always inviting him. Whenever she smiled at him, he felt bewitched.

Aly was shocked. Her eyes were widely opened. She became stiffened but the kiss sent shivers on her body and butterflies on her stomach.

At first, the kiss was light but Brett wanted more so he deepened the kiss. Teasing Aly's lips to open up for him. And he succeeded.

Aly started to feel Brett kissing her passionately. Brett was seducing her more and more and he was able to turned her on.

She kissed him back and the kiss they were sharing became more intense and fire started to build within their bodies. A fire that was long gone but now was starting to grow and became dangerously hot.

A knock on the door made them stop immediately.

"Dad?" Harper said.

Brett and Aly felt that they were splashed by a bucket of ice. Aly pushed Brett on the side and his head hit the headboard.

"Ouch!" Brett cried in pain. Aly was startled.

"Sorry, sorry." Aly said worriedly. Brett smiled that made Aly blushed.

"I'm okay, I'm already sobered." Brett said massaging his head.

"Does it hurt?" Aly asked.

"A little but it's okay." Brett said. Aly sighed.

Brett looked at Aly's lips. It became a little swollen because of his sudden attack. He traced her lips.

"I'm sorry, I can't resist myself." Brett said. Aly lowered her head because of embarrassment.

"Dad?" Harper knocked again.

"Come in, Sweetheart." Brett said.

Harper came in with a smile on her face.

"Are you okay, Dad?" Harper asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. After a hit on the head." Brett said smiling. Harper furrowed her brows. Aly blushed again.

Before Aly decided to go home, she reminded Nanny Laura to make a hangover soup for Brett for tomorrow.

Nanny Laura was familiar to Aly because she was the one bringing the laundry of Brett and his children to Heaven Scent.

Reaching their home, Tyler and Caden bid goodnight to their mom before entering their respective rooms. Aly took a shower and changed her clothes. She laid on her bed but she can't sleep. When she's closing her eyes, the scene a while ago was popping in her head.

"Damn!" She said.

She got up from her bed and looked outside her window. Minutes later, sleep was still distant to her, she decided to go down. She made a cup of coffee and sat on the dining table.

To others, coffee causes insomnia, but to Aly, it was her sleep inducer. Aly sipped her coffee and sighed deeply.

"Why did I let it happen?" Aly questioning herself.

"Five years, I was able to resist men in my life and yet my guard was destroyed by someone whom I hardly know." Her mind continuously asking herself. She touched her lips and still could feel the tenderness of Brett's lips on her. She shake her head.

"Aly Andrada! What is happening to you?" She murmured and she messed her hair.

She finished her coffee and decided to come back to her room. It was already dawn when Aly felt the heaviness in her eyes. But before she closes her eyes she whispered, "Honey, I'm sorry..."

Lessons from quotes (source unknown)

There are two important things in life. Learning to hold on and let go. Holding on when the road gets bumpy and letting go when the road ends.

There are things that hurt us. But since we love the people who have hurt us so much, we learn to place the pain in the back of our minds so we can learn to love them again.

There are things you love to hear it from the person you would like to hear it from, but don't be deaf to hear it from the person who says it with his heart.

There is one only risk worth taking... it's the risk of getting hurt when you fall in love, but experiencing the joy of being in love is worth all the pain anytime and anyday.

There would come a time when we have to stop loving someone not because that person has started hating you but because we found out that they'd be happier if we let them go.
