Once Deleon's mother agreed to a magic tutor, he happily returned to his room.
'System, do you have any other techniques or spells I could learn?'
[I can only assimilate data from witnessed skills or techniques. You have only witnessed your mothers Swift Steps technique.]
'When did I witness that? I only saw her for a bit...'
[When your mother saw you in the hallway she used Swift steps to quickly come and check on you. Would you like to learn Swift Steps?]
'Yes, please begin the... download?'
[Technique Swift Steps preparing download.]
[Download Beginning]
Deleon felt a small ache in his head as the {Swift Steps} technique was downloaded. It was a basic technique, that pushed the muscles in ones legs, allowing them to move much faster for the price of your muscles being clenched for the same amount of time the user had used the skill. This meant that if the user used the skill for 15 seconds to move across a field, once they reached the other side they would be unable to move for 15 seconds.. This drawback made it an unwanted technique for combat, but for daily life it was quite effective. Concentrating, a large amount of adrenaline and energy rushed to Deleon's legs, allowing him to fly across his enormous room. The change caused Deleon to smash into a wall, leaving a dent. Flat on his back, Deleon groaned. He had used the skill for three or four seconds and had rushed to the other side of the room. His legs quickly recovered and he stood unsteadily.
'Can my golem do that?'
[Your helper golem can perform any skills you have, but as it isn't made of flesh and bone it won't experience the movement limitation of the skill.]
Deleon nodded subconsciously, and summoned his golem.
"Pick me up, and run around the room for 20 seconds using swift steps." Deleon commanded. Instantly obeying, the golem picked up Deleon and raced around the room. Deleon enjoyed this thoroughly, it was like a roller coaster. When the golem stopped it set him down with his hair in a mess. Finding a comb in the small dresser, Deleon combed it back into place as to not arouse suspicion. He then lay back in bed and quickly fell asleep.
----------
The next morning Deleon was woken up by a quiet knocking on his door.
He opened the door to see his mother standing there with an unfamiliar woman. The woman stared at him for a second, before coming forwards and squeezing him. She was surprisingly strong for her slender frame. He couldn't breath in her embrace, so he began squirming, trying to escape her evil grasp.
"Mph, MPH, MPH." He tried to scream, but he was being crushed against her. He thought deperately then finally wondered why his combat golem hadn't showed up. He was pretty sure the woman had no ill intent, but he was dying here! Then his mother came to the rescue, viciously pulling the two apart and pushing the strange woman away.
"Jeyana, what are you doing..?" His mother asked with a dangerous undertone.
"I'm so sorry, but his face is so cute!" She squealed, trying to get at Deleon again, but again being fended of by his mother.
"Do you want the job or not?" His mother demanded.
"Sorry sorry sorry, I'll calm down." Jeyana instantly quieted down, looking slightly crestfallen.
"Whats going on? What job? why is that woman here?" Deleon demanded, extremely confused.
"Ah, Deleon, this is your new tutor!"
"Wait.. what? Isn't that really dangerous?"
"I didn't think so until I saw her previous reaction to you." His mother said shooting a sharp glare at Jeyana.
"I'm sorry, I'll restrain myself." Said a downcast Jeyana.
"Anyway, your tutoring will start today Deleon!" His mother pushed the two into his room. They moved to the heavenly bed. "I'll be supervising."
Quickly Jeyana started grabbing several papers from her bag and inspecting them.
"Alright, we'll go over the basics." She said, suddenly seeming much more professional.
"Magic is the ability to bend reality to math your imagination. Everything in magic relies on imagination. Even if your magic affinity is amazing, if you do not have imagination you will always lose. Someone with barely a whisper of affinity will beat you if they have a greater imagination. There is a limit on this though. Magic affinity is how much power you have to affect the world, while your imagination is the ability to control that power. The one with greater imagination will even be able to affect the other persons power to an extent. It is impossible to completely take control of their power, but the one with greater imagination may be able to redirect their power. One person conjures a fireball, but the other just makes the fireball fly sideways. Despite this, those with a greater imagination aren't valued as much. These days so many methods of control have been researched that if you follow a grimoire, you can make many amazing things by following the instructions. Luckily only those with a great imagination can reach the level of archmage. That brings us to the different levels of magic. We have Initiate, Novice, Journeyman, Mage, Archmage, Dream Mage, and finally Creation Mage." Initiates are those just learning to control their power, Novices are those who have decent control over their power and can cast basic spells without too much error. Journeymen are those with more control of their power, and they can consistently cast basic spells and sometimes even intermediate spells. Mages are those with close to perfect control over their power, and can cast all known basic, intermediate, and advanced spells. Archmages are those with perfect control over their power and have created their own form of magic. The first archmages were those that made fire, water, air, and earth magic. Dream mages have their own completely unique magic. They also have established a domain around themselves. Within that domain they are all powerful, they have complete control as you would in your dreams. Next we have creation mages. These existences are legendary. They have utter control over everything. The entire universe bends to their will. The requirements for this kind of power are unknown. In fact, their entire existence is purely theore-"
Suddenly Deleon interrupted by yawning.
"Yeah, thats interesting and all, but that sounds like too much work. Can we just start with doing magic?"
Both women looked at him incredulously. Any child should have gleaming eyes by now, wondering if they could be the first ever Creation Mage. But no Deleon. He yawned and asked to just do magic.
"Uh... okay..." Jeyana stuttered.
"So, the basic spell is levitation. A staple of the magic community. It relies entirely on imagination as all magic does."
She gave a small smile, and all the pillows on the bed rose up. Deleon though about this for a second. 'Huh, I wonder..' Deleon began to concentrate. He gave a small smile and crossed his legs. He rose up and a small light glowed behind him, slowly all the pillows rotated around him, forming a classic Buddha image... except with a young child in his pajamas surrounded by fluffy pillows. Or so he wished. What actually happened was that he was thrown into the ceiling, the sun bloomed inside the room, and all the pillows exploded.
------
When Deleon woke up, he expected an extreme headache, or maybe the void again. What he actually experienced was much different. He was sitting on his bed, covered with blankets, with his Mom, Jeyana, and a strange man looking at him worriedly. When he did open his eyes they all gave sighs of relief.
"Hey kid, I'm Doc." The man stated.
"Doc? Thats your name?" Deleon questioned
"Nah, names Jeff." The man stated.
On closer inspection, the man looked nothing like a doctor, he looked more like if king kong decided to shed his hair and walk upright. Well, actually never mind on the shed his hair part. The man was super hairy. A giant hairy man a doctor? What next, the fairies are barbarians that kill everyone they see? Anyway, the man was so big that Deleon wondered how he got through the door.
"So... what now..?"
