Tough Decision

" Mama?" little bean question as she peeped out from behind her mother's back.

She smiled stiffly and patted little beans head." This-it seems this is your Principal. Go Ahead and greet him".

Little bun looked up at the man in front. He was very pretty and his eyes were a deep blue, just like the butterfly before. She instantly had a good impression of him.

" Hello Sir" she smiled and waved shyly.

He looked at the little brat and replied with a simple " Mhm"

He glance back up to the mother and noticed her stiff face, amused he gestured to the empty chair.

" Sit "

Shu Xiu Lan complied. She was still on edge about this Principal. His ability to get behind her so quietly was unnerving. ' Looks like I have to brush up on my skills soon...'

" Your child shall be studying under me for the next few years. Any questions you would like to ask?" Asked the Principal mildly.

Hearing those words, Xiu Lan flinched a little. That was a long time.

" How often would she get to return home?"

" Ahh...That. Not much, that would be very distracting to a student." He answered lightly looking away as if not paying the question any thought.

" What!?-I don't agree to that. She is only 3- That is too long for her to be away from home!" She said agitatedly.

Little bun sat in silence. She too didn't not want to be away for that long but she also wanted to go to school with her big sister Hao Hao.

The principal, Long Wuying, tapped the table melodiously while listening. This was a simple matter, however, why would he ever make it so easy?

" Hmm? Then, are you saying that you would will be leaving?"

He looked at her awaiting her response.

Xiu Lan looked at little buns troubled face. Xiao Mei was very quiet but you could tell that she was having a hard time deciding what she should do. Her little fist balled tightly in concentration.

" I think-I think I will stay with mama...". She looked at her mom with determination. She had thought hard about this and it was best to stay with her mama. She only had one mama after all and she also didn't want her mama to be sad.

Touched, Xiu Lan smiled sadly. Her little bun was very brave and loving, she knew Xiao Mei wanted to make friends so much and because of her, she gave up her dreams.

She hugged little bun tightly and said" Its ok, we can always find another school where you can make lots of friends. We can also go visit Hao Hao another time ok?" Little bun looked up excitedly.

" I can still be friends with big sister Hao Hao?" she asked surprised.

Xiu Lan chuckled and said lovingly, " Of course silly" she caressed her hair gently.

Long Wuying watched the mother and daughter pair entertainingly. It seem as if they had forgotten his existence, which was a first for him. He had always been at the forefront of everyone's attention whether he wanted it or not and this slight change of pace was different but intriguing.

He had wondered if giving the choice, what they would choose and it seemed they had a tighter bond than he thought. Human emotions were always fickle in the face of greater gain, so he wouldn't have been surprised if the child choose to stay here and leave behind her mother.

Sore from their openly displayed love for one another he then he ruthlessly broke apart their bonding session.

"There is another choice you can choose, Its quite simple really" he pointed out unconcerned as he took a sip of tea that was brought to him moments ago.

"Huh?"

Both mother and child let out confused. They weren't aware that there was another choice aside the one they had been given.

' If their was another option why didn't he just say it then!' Xiu Lan thought annoyed

" What is it?" she stoically asked.

" Why don't you just...stay here? "

" What?"

" I don't make it a habit of repeating myself twice". he said lightly.

" What you said.....did you mean it? I can stay with Xiao Mei?"

He glanced at her side ways. " You can stay on the school ground as long as she studies here. Of course, less distraction is always advocated but I think, in her case," He glanced briefly at the little brat that was looking up at him, expectation glistening in her little brown eyes," this can be made an exception".

Overjoyed, little bun hugged her mother and said " I'm glad you can stay with me mama. Now I have you and sister Hao Hao with me!"

Shu Xiu Lan was still confused but ultimately happy. She didn't have to part from her little bun and can even see her everyday while she was here.

Standing up, Long Wuying looked at Xiu Lan," Follow me" he walked away in a ' I don't care if you follow' kind of way.

Xiu Lan kept finding herself increasingly irked by his devil-may-care attitude but she dismissed it because he was her daughters principal. Following behind, Xiu Lan and little bun made their way deeper inside the school.
