The Timid Boy

"You are talking as if you knew him way back. But what about Den, Alena?"

The sudden question woke up Alena in reality. She totally forgot Den.

"Honestly bro? I don't really know. I don't know what to feel. I mean, I'm really confused right now."

"Do not push yourself too hard. I aready know beforehand your agreement. No matter what is your decision, I will fully support you. But do not drag this on for so long. Someone might become too heartbroken." He comforted his sister.

In truth, he already know along time ago that they agreed to date to shoo away her persistent suitors. At that time when Alena is going home alone, a sudden schoolmate-stalker was following her and this did creep her out. Her brother was out with her friends and Alice was absent on that day. The schoolmate-stalker notice the good opportunity and followed Alena home. She noticed someone following her but did not think too much until the man grabbed her hand and drag her in a corner. Luckily, Den was passing by and saw the scene. He thought of rescuing her until....

"PAK!"

A sudden slap was heard.

"KICK!"

Next was a quick sound of a kick.

Den was so dumbstrucked. He was speechless. He opened his mouth of shock. He stopped on his tracks when he saw the exciting scene. He thought that she saw a war goddess. A tiger dressed in a sheep's clothing. My God! This is her Alena. She was really pretty. He was awed. Until Alena covered his wide openned mouth.

"You want to wipe your drool?" Alena spoke.

Den was awoken with her feisty attitude. He felt embarassed. His cheeks were so red up to his ears. He couldn't hide his admiration anymore. He actually had a secret crush on Alena since forever. But he was a timid guy, he did not dare confess his feelings before, until now.

"Alena, will you be my girlfriend?" He originally thought of saying such things on his mind but he ended up laying it out in the open.

Den was so embarassed he looked back. He regretted what he had done instantly. He does not want to show his face to Alena.

Alena, on the other hand, had her entire share of shock of the century. She had no idea Den liked her after practically being friends since birth. She praised him inwardly for he hid it so well. But Alena did not know that she was the only one who did not notice the feelings of the timid boy. Boy the friend zone is real.

"Den, are you seriously asking me that now? After all these years?" she did not know how to respond to his sudden confession.

Den Hayes was his childhood friend. But not too many knew this in their school. She did not want to ruin their beautiful friendship because of this. She knows that if they suddenly decided to break up, the original friendship cannot be mended and you become total strangers. And she doesn't want that. Den was not only understandin, in fact he was totally great guy. He was just shy sometimes.

"Den, I've been friends with you for so long. Uhm, I'm not sure how I really feel about you other than friendship and familial feelings. I thought our closeness was just between a brother and a sister. Your sudden confession makes me confused all of a sudden. I don't even want know what to say. I want our friendship to last forever. but I don't want to start a relationship that I'm not 100% certain either."
