Chapter 2: A Sybil Myth

In a forest far from any civilization lies a beautiful pond. This is the only place you can see the sun, the clouds of Sybilvainia part only here. A very special legend goes with the origin of this mysterious pond.

The legend goes...

There once was a Sybilvainian sea, which covered the land. The creatures thrived, and the sun shone over them all.

One day, the god Alrik had grown bored with what he had created. Alrik had started to dry up the sea, leaving creatures helpless. Even when the sea was shallow enough to kill everything else, one creature stood alive. A squid made of crystal, sitting, refusing to give up what was his domain. Alrik had admired the squid of crystal. He had learned to adapt, live in the conditions that were given.

Alrik had granted the squid a special place into which he could live.

He gave the squid a pond of salt water.

The pond is small and deep with the edges lined with lily pads and lotus flowers. Fish from the sea live in peace. The clouds part only here granting sunshine to the beauty.

The legend goes that if you step into the water you will be consumed slowly by the squid, your last accessory that you wore on that day will be left on the edge of the pond. The accessory is only to show that you have gone against "the warning".

You are given one warning as a child...

"Do not look for the Crustallum Lolligo's pond. If you happen upon the pond, do not approach it. You have been given one warning."
