Finally Woken Up

The sun was up high when I left my room. I have slept in because of taking care of the injured Derrick. With the confirmation of my hunch, I am confident to say that Derrick is one of the male lead candidates to win the heroine's heart. With him under my care, I can forge a good relationship with me.

In the character synopsis the noble man that bought him in the slaver's auction took care of him and his siblings. He felt in debt to this noble man and gave his oath of loyalty to him.

'If I take the noble man's place, then he will be in debt to me." I grinned to myself.

The noble man made him the captain of his knights, making me think that this noble man might be a duke from the four ducal houses of the Argentine Kingdom. Being a captain of the knights from these four ducal houses is a high position in the Argentine Kingdom. This could be a good set up to meet the heroine who is to be the holy maiden of the kingdom.

"Well I can ask father to make him my personal first and then make him the captain of his knights when the time comes." I said to myself. "If my father sees Derrick's talent ins swordsmanship being the captain is a matter of course."

I came in front of Derrick's room and knocked.

*knock knock*

"May I come in?" I asked. Well this is my house but it is still disrespectful to come in a room unannounced.

"Yes." I heard Derrick's weak voice.

I opened the door and saw him sitting on the bed. His shirt was partially opened and I saw the bandage on his chest with some blood stains.

"How are you feeling?" I asked worriedly. I hurriedly walked to and sat on his bed side to inspect his bandages. "Your wound has some bleeding. Did the doctor come to check on it?"

Derrick face flushed with my sudden closeness to him. "Y-Yes, he just left a while ago. He cleaned my wound and wrapped new bandages."

"That is good to hear." I sighed in relief. "Have you eaten lunch? Just tell me if you need anything okay?"

Derrick looked a little flustered. "T-Thank you miss, but isn't this a little too much."

"What do you mean a little too much?" I asked. "You saved my life. Of course it is just normal to repay you in kindness." Well I feel a little guilty that I have a hidden agenda in helping him. But I really want to give him and his siblings a home. If I leave them be on the streets, for sure those slave traders might catch them. My conscience can't take that.

"T-Then thank you miss, for also taking care of my little sister." Derrick said. "After I have regained my strength, then we can go. I don't want to bother you any further than this."

"Well about that…" I said. "Why don't you just stay here in our estate? I will employ you and your sisters and then you won't have any problems like food, clothing, and a place to live in."

Derrick was surprised with my proposition. "W-Well that… I think I cannot take that offer." He said regretfully.

"But why is that?" I asked curiously.

"I-It is not safe to be near us, miss…." Derrick said. He looked rather pained.

I am sure he has been enduring all of this alone. With his parents dead and him being the elder brother, he has taken this huge burden by himself.

"Is it because you and your sisters being Montgomery's?" I asked with a serious look.

Derrick was taken back by my words. "H-How did you…"

"It doesn't take a detective to know." I carefully combed his long hair with my hands. "It looks like you need a haircut. And I am thinking maybe dark brown hair, will suite you." I smiled at him.

Derrick caught my hint. I am not willing for them to go back to the streets where it is not safe. I am willing to take him in even with the dangers.

"Thank you, thank you very much." I can see tears coming out of his eyes. I took my handkerchief and carefully wiped them.

"No need to thank me. My conscience won't just let me leave you and your sisters out on the streets." I said. "And you will work for me as well, so it really like I am letting you live here for free." I giggled.

"I…*sob* I will work hard miss." Derrick said while wiping away his tears.

"My name is Alyssa Yvonne Broderick." I introduced myself. "You can call my Ysa." I smiled

"I-I cannot call you like that miss."Derrick was shocked. "I will be employed under you so I can't call you by your name."

Looking at him so flustered made me giggle. He looked so cute.

"Then call me Ysa when no one is around." I smiled. "How about you, what will I call you and how old are you by the way?"

"My name is Derrick Montgomery. Just call me Derrick." Derrick introduced himself like what a noble man would. His etiquette is surely etched in his whole being even though their family has long but fallen. "I am turning twelve this year."

"You are four years older than me and two years older than big brother." I said. I thought he was the same age as Eric, but I guess Eric is just bigger than his peers.

"Then Derrick, I will be under your care from now on." I extended my hand for a handshake. Derrick took it without any second thought.

"I will also be in your care miss." Derrick replied.

"That's Ysa… when it's only us." I giggled.

"Yes… Ysa." Derrcik chuckled in reply.
