The weekend was normal. After I got my glasses, I felt good that I didn't have to poke myself in the eye every morning to put in a contact lense. I woke up earlier than usual this morning.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" they screamed as I fell off my bed.
My great aunt Patricia helped me up and laughed. I put my glasses on and sat on my bed.
"Good morning to you too." I said as I checked how early it was.
I had a message from a group chat called "Girl's Club", Ruby had sent something about a date.... for me. My eyes widened at the sight of it and my great aunt patted me on the shoulder.
" It'll be fine, child. Sometimes the random things are the best things." she said as she read the message. After she was done speaking, she left my room and closed my door.
I got up and found a box wrapped in red paper. I opened it and saw drawing supplies. I picked up the note.
"I respect the boy who gave this to you, because he didn't want you to know, but just know that he cares about you, Jack.
Sincerely,
Rubes"
I cleaned off my glasses and reread the note.
I decided to stop thinking about who gave me the present and got dressed. I put on camo leggings, a green shirt, black jacket, and black boots. I stood in the mirror and pictured a guy standing behind me, holding my shoulders as I stood there. I couldn't see his face, but then, my mother knocked on my door and told me it was almost time to go.
I ran down stairs and grabbed my lunch box. The bus got there in about thirteen minutes and Julius and I ran out to catch it.
When Ruby got on the bus, I told her to sit where the twins normally did. I was a little sad to know they weren't here.
"What are you thinking, Rubes?!" I asked her as I grabbed her collar.
"Blind date and respecting male privacy?" she said with an annoyed look before she squeezed my left hand until I put her down. "We're helping you, Jack." she said.
"You can't be alone all your life." Rose said as she put down her sketch pad and grabbed my book bag.
"B-but I'm only sixteen!" I said as the bus stopped and the Knoxes got on the bus.
"We. Are. Helping. You." Ruby said as she slipped into the seat next to Ty and gave me the death stare.
I began to wonder a lot of things through out the entire day.
