Stretch marks occur when a person either gains alot of weight or grows alot in a short period of time. Around 80% of all humans have had stretch marks at some point in time. The high numbers are due to the fact that pregnancy has somewhere between 75% and 90% chance of causing stretch marks and puberty causes insane growth.

If you gained stretch marks due to weight gain, you won't lose them just by losing weight. It's as if you overstretched a rubber band, it won't go back to how it was originally. Most of time stretch marks just need time to fade away.

Another easy way to gain stretch marks is by doing intense workouts as when muscles grow too quickly, they'll also cause stretch marks.

It also doesn't matter how skinny you are, no one is immune to stretch marks.
