Sea Urchins

Sea urchins are small spherical creatures that are covered in long spikes. They are most known for their painful "stings". A single sting can cause swelling and also immense pain comparable to a big splinter. Multiple "stings" may even cause fatigue, weakness, muscle aches, shock, paralysis, and respiratory failure which could possibly lead to death.

What you may not is know is that some sea urchins can even bite you and some of those bites are venomous. The bite can be very painful as sea urchins sometimes use their 5 teeth to drill holes in rocks. However the sea urchin bite won't leave any spines behind.

Surprisingly enough, very few people actually know that sea urchins aren't complete spheres. They can even more along the ocean floor with their 5 rows of suction feet.

Due to pollution (and their usage in Japanese sushi), the sea urchin population has taken a massive hit and they have been placed on the list of threatened species.

Some urchins like the red sea urchin can even live to up 200 years old which would be enviable if their lives weren't so pointless. They don't have any eyes, heck they don't even have a brain.
