Science Class

Science class in elementary school was great. There were tons of fun and interesting experiments. One of my personal favorites was when we were learning about the animal kingdom and how camouflage plays a huge role.

We got to cut out pure white butterflies and try to camouflage them and hide them around the classroom. Afterwards we got to "hunt" for those butterflies. This was also something our science teacher did with every class. Thus there was a huge incentive to find one of those older butterflies. But if you did well, your butterfly could have potentially survived for multiple generations.

We had a projector screen that could be pulled down. Just google pull down projector screen and you'll know what I'm talking about. So I stuck my butterfly basically in the focal point of the classroom, right in the center of that white container and it stayed there for the 3 years I was at that school.

Just knowing how your butterfly was sitting in plain site but still somehow survived multiple school years is a fantastic feeling.

And ever so often a random butterfly would be discovered.

So just remember, sometimes hiding in plain sight is much more effective that actually hiding.
