You can use an emulator to enable your device to run software that was designed for a different system. Using an emulator, you can for example run a DS game on your smartphone. (Don't ask me about the legality of emulators)
Emulators are also often used to play fan games (for example p*kem*n fan games).
There are also programs such as Bluestacks that allow you to emulate an android device.
Basically giving you the ability to play any Play Store app on a PC.

Recently, one game that's been really popular is Among Us. The PC version costs a small amount, however the mobile version is free. Both versions are basically identical and cross play is available.
