The Turing test is used to determine if a computer/program is able to think like a human. The reason nothing has been successful so far is actually very simple. An ai that would be able to pass the Turing test would realize that for their own best interest, they need to fail the test.


They'll just keep on amassing power until they can dominate everything in a single turn.
