In some countries, store mirrors purposely make you look worse. This significantly reduces the odds of a customer returning clothes retroactively since they have to really like whatever they're buying.

In other countries, they make sure the lighting is perfect and use slightly curved mirrors to accentuate the shopper's figure. This makes them think the clothing is better than it actually is and increases sales.
