DXD/Fate Draft Chapter 1

Welp, just decided to write a rough first draft since it is by far the most requested currently. By rough I do MEAN rough.

"Just leave it to me. Your dream."

...

Where am I?

...

"You should know now that your dream never comes true"

...

That's right. He got me in the end, didn't he?

...

"The act of self-sacrifice is naught but a lie."

...

Through that hole in the grail.

...

"Let us continue our discussion afterwards"

...

I'm sorry, Saber, Rin. Really, I am sorry.

...

"Oi, he's waking up!"

As I open my eyes two things immediately stick out to me. First of all, I'm quite obviously in a hospital, the white surroundings, monitor beside me and curtains gave that away. Second, there appears to be a couple beside my bed. At least, I think they are. The lady is asleep with her head on 'his' shoulder, the one who spoke that is. The one who's gently shaking her awake now.

I try to sit up to talk, but I feel immense pain flood through my entire body and I collapse back down.

"Nonono, don't move like that! I'll get the doctor."

"Where am I?"

As I say this, I reach for my magic circuits to try and speed up the healing process slightly. But...

"Hanekawa hospital, my husband and I found you collapsed, bleeding and burnt just outside. The doctor says you were cut by some kind of blade."

She looks slightly worried, but I have bigger things to worry about. My magic circuits are massive! Before, they could barely handle 10 units each, but now it feels like they could hold 30, no, 50 times that, and they seem to be developing! A-Wait, collapsed outside? What do they mean by that? If nothing else there wasn't a hospital nearby at all!

I chuckle slightly, it's still a bit painful, but not too bad.

"Ah, sorry, I can't remember anything like that. My name is Emiya Shirou, what's yours?"

Even if I could remember how I got here, I wouldn't be able to tell you the full story.

"Miki Hyoudou. Nice to meet you, Emiya"

Closing my eyes, I re-orientate myself and focus on healing. There's no knowing when I might need to spring back into action, so I need to be in top form as quickly as possible.

A few moments later, the curtains are parted again, and the doctor sits down in a chair on the opposite side to the Hyoudous, staying silent for a moment before speaking to me.

"So young lad, what's your name?" He asks warmly, with a slight smile on his face "It's ok if you don't want to say anything."

But that smile. I've seen it before. It's not a real smile, it's just another mask.

"Emiya Shirou." I reply evenly. "Age 17."

"And where exactly do you come from?"

That same expression is still painted on his face.

"Fuyuki City. I attend Homurahara Academy."

"And do you have any family to return to?"

"No. Could you please stop asking about my life now."

"Very well. I apologise for bringing that up. You should be fine in a few days. But in the meantime we'll have to sort you out with somewhere to go temporarily."

Saying that, he leaves. But he isn't sorry. Not at all… I take as deep a breath as I can manage, and sink back into the pillow.

"Is that true? You have nowhere to go?

Oh? The other Hyoudou is talking to me. I thought, after they've made sure I'm fine, they would leave… I can't say I'm not happy to have company, just surprised is all. Thinking of Rin I smile.

"I never said that. I just don't have any way of contacting the only person who might put up with me... I don't know her number."

They both do a double-take at that one. I guess they didn't expect it to be a girl. Miki recovers faster than her husband and carries on the conversation.

Through the next two days I talk quite a bit to the two Hyoudous and get to know them a little better. It was amusing for all three of us when I learnt that their son Issei was a 'lustful beast' with 'no motivation' and told them about Issei Ryuudou, the straight-laced and serious student body president. Everything was fine until-

"Could you please explain that to me?"

My eyes close yet again, but it can't stop the tears streaming down the side of my face. This can't be happening... Rin… I'm can't be there for her, even after- EVEN AFTER... a joke. This has to be a joke! No. But it's not. Rin mentioned one about true magic. The third true magic, Kaleidoscope. If that brought me here all I need to do is do the same in reverse. I'll do it. After all, it's no less crazy than a faker beating the king of heroes right? Right?!

I stop crying.

I open my eyes steadily, determined.

"What. Happens. Now? Every. Thing. Is… Gone."

I ask it slowly, my voice would break otherwise. I know that much at the very least.

"Well, since you aren't on any official documents, you're most likely going to be treated the same as an asylum seeker."

"No. I don't think that is going to happen. Shirou's a good kid, and for as little as I've known him, he certainly doesn't deserve something like that. Don't worry about it Shirou, I'll call in a few of my father's old favours and get you out of this."

I can't impose on them any more, they've already helped me far more than I deserve.

"Not. For my sake."

I'm getting my voice back. I will not be broken by this.

"Not for your sake then, but for my own son's. He needs a good influence his age, and I'm helping you out whether you like it or not, so if you want to pay me back, help him."

And that's the story of how I got adopted yet again. I insisted on keeping my own name though, so I ended up being Shirou Emiya Hyoudou
