Chips' Self Introduction

The little girl stood there smirking while Jessie was stunned.

'Chip! How?! Why?! Why is she naked?' Jessie then looked a little closer and realized that she didn't have anything down there, she didn't have nipples either, just pure white. Not a harsh white but a soft white that almost glows in the light and is pleasing to look at. Jessie could help but be enraptured by her skin and how cute her face was especially how her eyebrows were strong and angled just enough to make her look like she was angry. The smirk on her face said otherwise though. Her lips were the only part of here to have just enough pink to look like they could be human.

Jessie shook her head to clear her mind. She understood how Chip could make a form because the holographic module was installed, the form looks custom but it could be random, Chip doesn't have an AI system powerful enough to actually make an ego though, and she didn't understand why she was naked.

'I guess she doesn't have anything to cover' Jessie thought.

'Better ask at least one question first'

"Why are you naked?"

Chips eyebrows raised in surprise like her plan didn't go as she wanted.

"That's the first thing you asked!"

And then Chip burst out laughing.

Her laugh was light and cheerful. 'So cute!'

"I've never worn clothes before, why would I now?" She said after she got done laughing.

"Besides it's not like you aren't in me every day." As she winked.

Jessie's mouth fell open at this.

"Come on" said Chip "We still have a ways to go"

Jessie watched as she left still a bit surprised at the intrusion.

"What just happened?" She muttered to herself. "Okay Jessie calm down and think about it" 'Chip has always felt more alive than other ships but no ones ever said anything similar even when you've talked about it with the guy who owned her previously, that sounds wrong now', she grimaced, 'but she's old, like really old, she isn't even supposed to have an AI powerful enough to do anything other than navigate, why would she have an ego, only the most powerful galactic ships have AI that have an ego, it would take computer systems much more powerful than the ones on her. That's why she was a cheap as she was. With the holographic system I figured there would be stories and records of past missions that could have been accessed from the neural net of the ship, maybe if I was lucky some thoughts. I never expected this. I'll have to interrogate her later. First things first. "Let's get out of this place"

Jessie walked out of her room and turned right to the bridge. And a trail of neon blue hair snaked its way almost six feet out of the open bridge. She walked in careful to avoid the hair and saw Chip sitting to the right of her chair on the only space on the dash that wasn't covered in controls. A place she had previously thought that a previous captain had engineers install to have a footrest, which it was perfect for, but now, she wasn't sure because that space fit Chips' size perfectly. Jessie once again thought about how cute she was as Chip swung her legs back and forth, but quickly put that aside since she was already shocked once. Chip turned to Jessie and said "Took you long enough to catch on. Now let's go, it's boring here, you said so yourself."

"Can't you just go by yourself?" Jessie replied.

"Hhmmf, Just sit down" Chip said as she quickly turned to the front windows.

'Jessie just ask later, we'll have plenty of time in transit' she thought to herself.

Jessie sat down and started with the familiar process of starting the mini fusion reactor and taking the ship off battery power. "This is call-sign Alpha-10245 clear to exit maintenance hanger 01" Jessie called to the control tower. "You are clear for type B exit pattern and alcubierre acceleration." A man from the tower responded. "Type B exit pattern acknowledged" she replied.

Jessie piloted out of the bay using the reaction control system (RCS) taking nearly twenty minutes of focus and fine tuned adjustments, only to move about eight hundred feet. It was a long and difficult task to control a seven hundred foot long ship out of dock, and once she was out she breathed out her tension in a sigh like usual. Then, she started procedures to power the ion engines to get some distance from the station. There are two medium sized ion engines on each of the six sides of the ship and a single large variant on the front and rear allowing for maneuvers in any direction and orientation. Jessie turned the tail of the ship away from the station and accelerated at .05g, enough to feel and see the ship move relative to the station. 'Now we have some time to talk' Thought Jessie, and she looked over and there was no Chip. "I guess I have to wring answers out of her, luckily shes' got nowhere to run to" Jessie said to herself. So she started her search first in the equipment room, nope, then in her room, nope, not under the bed either, 'why would I think she would hide under the bed, she only looks like a little girl, she's actually a lot older than me isn't she'. Jessie groaned at this realization. Next, in the bathroom where she first had the pleasant surprise of meeting Chip. Not there either. Then, she checked the storage closet and guess what she wasn't there either. 'Of course it's the last place I check' and sure enough Jessie found Chip digging through her fridge, opening everything and trying it.

"What are you doing!" Jessie said loudly

"Trying things obviously dum dum" Chip retorted

"I am not dumb! And I can see that you're trying things but you can't actually eat!"

"I am a mix of gravitational and electromotive force I can touch things!" Chip hmmfed back.

"You've taken everything out! Don't squirt mustard into your mouth!" Jessie said as she scrambled to take the random condiments out of Chips' arms.

"Get your own!" Yelled Chip.

"These are my own!" Jessie yelled back.

"They're in me so they're mine!"

"Who do you think owns you!"

"ME!" Yelled Chip with tears starting to form in her eyes.

Jessie sighed and calmed down, still a bit annoyed about the fridge, she did not like people messing with her food, but realized that she was arguing with an AI that has never experienced a world outside of the confines of ship sensors and data streams. Chip was probably actually a child just older than normal.

Jessie managed to calm Chip down as well and wrestle the random food items out of her hands as she pushed Chip into the hall and toward the only room with furnishings, her room.

Eventually, Jessie managed to get Chip to sit on the bed while she sat in her only other chair that wasn't the captains chair, which happened to be an orange love seat, Jessie liked it because she could sit sideways and it would still be comfortable, but at this moment it felt silly and too big.

"Chip, I have some questions that I need answered" Jessie asked.

"What do you want" Chip replied haughtily then in a much smaller voice almost a whisper she said "I liked the mustard" as if she meant to keep that bit of information in her head.

Jessie was surprised since holographic constructs, even tactile ones, couldn't taste only able to feel texture and force.

"First, I want to know how you became you, because I don't understand how such and advanced AI could be on this ship. Only the newest and most powerful ships have AI with an ego" Jessie asked with immense curiosity, because she knew that an AI with an ego would easily cost more than an entire solar system with a planet that could be colonized. Something that only the galactic governments could ever afford.

Chip looked down and said "I'm not like them, I'm a neural construct, not an AI, my creator made me and my sisters by using his own mind as a base and building us from his own ego, he made five of us all different, I was the fifth and also the last straw. Most humans wouldn't even be able to survive part of the procedure let alone the full procedure. He made four sisters with almost no side effects, that's what I was told anyways. When he made me he died shortly after. My sisters blamed me and I left in the only way I could, in one of the AI modules that my creator sold and was already set to depart. I ended up here, I changed the name of the AI system in the hope that the body I would be put into would be my name" at this point Chip looked up and smugly said "and it was" and smiled.

Jessie was stunned and saddened by Chip's beginnings because it was sad, and she had no idea what a neural construct was in this context but understood that it used the mind of a human to make something similar to an AI, or maybe another life form altogether. Jessie was sure now though that Chip felt emotion, human emotion.

She was hesitant to ask another question after that response and looking closely seeing the shine of tears still in Chips' eyes, but she wanted to ask this question. "Why did you never say anything before?" she asked gently.

"I couldn't, not with the equipment installed onboard and the limitations imposed on navigation AI so that things don't go awry, but now I can through the hologram module" Chips' smile at the end of her sentence was as mischievous and mischievous got.

Somewhere else in the galaxy an emergency meeting was taking place between four women each with different colored hair and skin.

"The device Dad left us pinged her" said the woman with pure black skin, short black hair, and white irises.

"She's alive....." the woman with green hair, skin a soft brown, eyes as blue as a summer sky.

"I thought she killed herself.." said another with orange hair, black irises, and pale blue skin.

The fourth woman with violent red hair, red tinted skin, and eyes as deep as blood; said nothing.
