I’ll Carry You and Run!

The three went on to the fifth floor. Jin Mi followed behind Ji Yuxian, her face no longer as harsh as before. She smiled, and whispered, "Young Master, that Miss Su sure can eat!"

It was a very understated way to put it.

She wouldn't believe that the nanny ate all the food on the table anyway.

Ji Yuxian continued to walk, his posture elegant and reserved. He smiled, "She is timid, but her appearance is not bad!"

For Ji Yuxian to say that she's 'not bad' meant she was indeed a great beauty!

Jin Mi bit her lips, disdain in her gaze. As soon as she opened her mouth again, she saw Ji Yuxian's expression turn disinterested. She hurriedly looked down and said no more.

Behind them, Shopkeeper Yuan whispered, "Young Master, Miss Su came with a few attendants. When we went in, they disappeared!"

"Mm." Ji Yuxian nodded slightly. "The glasses on the table were for five people!"

"Huh?" Jin Mi exclaimed in a low voice and looked at Shopkeeper Yuan in surprise. "This Miss Su drinks with her attendants?"

Shopkeeper Yuan frowned at the breach in protocol.

"Young Master, this Miss Su has a problem conducting herself. You can't marry her!" Jin Mi persuaded.

Having now reached the fifth floor. Ji Yuxian pushed the door and entered as he instructed calmly, "Ask Shopkeeper Wu to come!"

"Yes!" Shopkeeper Yuan replied respectfully and left to carry out his orders.

Jin Mi saw how Ji Yuxian did not want to talk more about Miss Su and she did not say much about it.

She had been around Ji Yuxian for more than ten years and was very clear about her master's temperament.

Since he did not mention her any further, it could only show that Miss Su was nothing to him at all.

-----------

Downstairs, when Ji Yuxian left, as soon as the waiter tried to serve the whole roast lamb into the room, a crash sounded. The sounds of glasses and plates falling to the ground rang the air.

The two waiters looked at each other and dared not go in again for a while.

With a blow, Su Jiu struck the table, and it collapsed. The dishes shattered all over the floor. The nanny was frightened, feeling the murderous aura the girl was emanating, as she stood still in fear.

Su Jiu took a deep breath, and looked a little pale. She turned to the nanny and said, "Who the hell does that gibbering woman think she is?"

"It looks like she's the servant girl of Eldest Young Master," the nanny replied.

She was good-looking, and could speak to Ji Yuxian. In the nanny's eyes, she must be a personal servant girl. In a noble family, personal servant girls enjoyed a higher status, which explained her arrogance.

"If she says such nonsense next time, I'll wreck her with a blow!" Su Jiu's anger had not abated.

"Absolutely not!" The nanny hurried forward and grabbed Su Jiu's sleeve, persuading, "Miss, you can't hurt her, not to mention kill her! She is valued by the Eldest Young Master, and he will not spare you! Your identity will get revealed, too! Miss, you have to take into account the overall situation, and be patient for the time being!"

Su Jiu's eyes narrowed. "If I was the real Miss Su, would you want her to be so patient?"

She came from a humble background, and even she could not stand the servant girl's belittling words. Miss Su was a true young noble lady, would she have let a mere servant girl humiliate her like this?

"Yes!" the nanny said. "Even my young lady could only listen if she was insulted by the Ji Family!"

There was a great disparity between the two families. The Su Family was disadvantaged to begin with in this engagement. They had sent their daughter on their own initiative. If she could not bear it, would she return to Fuyang out of anger?

She would really become a big joke! She wouldn't be able to find a decent family to marry in in the future!

So, the nanny thought, the real Miss Su would only be more patient than Su Jiu!

Su Jiu took a deep breath and nodded slowly for a long time. "Well, I will try to bear it, but if I can't…" she said.

"Even if you can't stand it, you have to!" the nanny intercepted, "I have followed you masters for years, and I have learned this much. You came from a humble background, and had endured all kinds of suffering in the past. I admire that greatly! Since you went through so much, can't you tolerate this little bit of suffering now?"

The nanny saw that Su Jiu did not lose her temper this time and continued, "Master if you really want to make things happen, patience is necessary. Not only now, but even more if you really marry into the Ji Family. Not only do you have to bear it, but you have to be more careful in the future. Eating and drinking in restaurants like this...there can be no next time!"

Su Jiu looked at the nanny, murderous intent still fierce in her eyes. After a long time, she regained her composure. "We are bandits, and don't know much. We have made a fool of ourselves in front of you! In the future, we will rely on you to remind us!"

The nanny smiled with caution at once. "No, no, I'm so glad my master can listen to an old lady's words and not get angry!"

"Let's go back then!"

"Yes, yes!"

The two opened the door, discovering the two waiters outside, left holding the whole roast lamb, looking stunned. When they saw the two leave, they retreated and let them pass. Suddenly, they saw the room full of broken porcelain and were startled yet again.

Su Jiu walked downstairs calmly.

When they got downstairs to pay, the Second Shopkeeper stood at the counter and calculated on his abacus. "Miss, that'll be a total of 864.25 silver taels. I'll round it up, and charge you 864 taels!" he said with a smile.

"What did you say?" Su Jiu whirled around and stared at Second Shopkeeper Hu with a gasp.

"Miss, your dishes and wine cost 560 taels," he explained with a smile. "All the broken glasses and plates were from official kilns, and the table was mahogany. Everything was paid for at the original price. I didn't ask you to pay a penny more than they were worth."

Su Jiu was a little confused. "Are you kidding me? How could those dishes be so expensive?"

"Here, here," the Second Shopkeeper took the menu to her, "Take a look, the price of the dishes are clearly written. If Miss, you do not believe us, you can calculate it yourself!"

Su Jiu held the menu for a moment, her gaze flickering. She was illiterate!

"Nanny, take a look!" Su Jiu gave the menu to the nanny in the guise of calm.

The nanny was also very embarrassed. Miss Su did not have the money to pay for the meal. There were so many people in this restaurant. If they were to publicize it, their reputation would be ruined!

The nanny took a general look, and whispered in Su Jiu's ear and said, "Miss, that's right, we did order these!"

Su Jiu frowned, gritting her teeth as she murmured in a low voice, "What do we do now? We only have 100 taels."

She had thought that 100 taels was enough for all these delicacies. Who would have thought that the dishes at Jingqin Restaurant were so expensive!

How can she not know what to do? the nanny whined in her heart. In my forty years I've never seen anything like this! Let us dig a hole in the ground and bury ourselves!

"Do you have anything of value on you so we can pay first?" Su Jiu whispered, glancing back at the Second Shopkeeper. "I will repay you when I have the silver."

"Not anymore!" The nanny shook her head. "My valuables were stolen in the woods!"

Su Jiu grit her teeth, blinked and said, "Fine. You run first, I'll hold them back and then come after. At most, we could give them 100 taels! Dishes for 800 taels, that's daylight robbery!"

"No, no!" Nanny grabbed Su Jiu's arm and said in fear, "I can't run with when I'm afraid, my legs would tremble. I'm sure I'll be caught!"

"Then I'll carry you and run!" Su Jiu said.

The nanny looked at her in utter shock.

A feeble lady, dressed in satin, carrying her nanny and running down the streets in a frenzy? She nearly fainted just thinking about the scene!

"On the count of three, you jump on my back, and I'll run!" When Su Jiu saw the nanny staring at her and didn't say anything, she thought she had agreed. She was about to start counting. "One, two…"

"No!" The nanny waved her hand hurriedly and backed away.
