Zhu Hecheng Goes to Jail

Qiao An's memorandum to the Emperor arrived seven days later. The Emperor was infuriated upon reading it, and immediately stripped off the official title of Xuzhou's Prefecture Magistrate and ordered for him to enter the city the next day.

Xuzhou's Prefecture Magistrate was sent into the city in a prison carriage and was promptly imprisoned in the jail of the Ministry of Justice. He did not refute the official statements from the housekeeper and servants of the Zhu Manor, and he confessed to all his crimes.

There was no point to refute anyway. Qiao An not only presented the official statements from the housekeeper of the Zhu Manor, but he also included the pieces of evidence that proved that they had been in contact all along. Attempting to repudiate his crimes would only result in more suffering for himself as all witnesses, and evidence had already surfaced.
