Stormy Night

The typhoon was now entering the country's area of responsibility and began raging in many places.

The wind is getting stronger around the Mainland City... grateful to Shun's mansion, and the inner house would not hear or feel the bad weather outside.

Quarter to twelve of midnight when Shun decided to stop reviewing the documents he brought home.

Even though he announces to his employees a nonworking day until the typhoon subsides, he and his Directors will continue working at his house. Apart from the crew needed in the hotel, Shun has a particular vehicle to pick them up anywhere around the Mainland City to work without swimming the flooded streets.

This trailer truck is heavy and elevated from the ground with amenities inside... it can pass a flash flood and high-level water and is heavy enough for strong winds to blow it away. It was made just for this kind of weather.

Shun leans on his chair and massages his temple; remembering to check his messages, his soul jumps out from his body after reading Joanna's text. He rose from his chair and rushed outside, then flew the stairs to the second floor of his mansion.

"Cassandra?" Shun tried to pull the doorknob upward. It was locked.

"Cassandra? Are you awake?" Shun knocked on the door.

When Cassie did not answer, he began pounding his hand on the door. He remembered the keys. He rushes to his bedroom and tries to find the key to Cassie's room.

"Shit!" he murmured. He can't remember. Why now? He couldn't decide which one of these keys was for Cassandra's bedroom; he was too worried he couldn't think straight.

Then he remembered to call his butler. "Mr. Son! I'm sorry to disturb you, can you please come to my bedroom ASAP? I need to find a certain key."

After several minutes, Mr. Son arrives and helps him find the key he needs. Rushing back to Cassie's bedroom, Shun opens the door, and with long steps, he strides inside.

The bed is empty. Cassie wasn't in bed. He began panicking when he saw a small figure on the side of the bed leaning on the bedside table. She was burying her face in her knees while trying to wrap herself.

"Cassandra, I'm sorry! I read Joanna's text too late. I'm sorry…" he held her face with both of his hands. She was sweating cold.

Cassie did not react when he came closer. She just stares at him blankly. "Cassandra?" he calls out to her, but she still has not responded to him.

"Do you want me to turn the lights on?" he kept talking to her, making an effort she would show a reaction.

"I'll go turn on the lights first," he was about to get up from kneeling when Cassie held his sweatshirt.

"Cassandra, I'll come back, okay?" he said, but Cassie still won't let go of his shirt.

The remote control for the lighting and other stuff was at the other bedside table. Good thing Mr. Son follows him. He ordered the butler to turn on the bedroom lights manually. Finishing doing his master's order, Mr. Son was to go back to his quarters now.

"There, it's brighter now. I'll put you back on the bed, okay?" he told Cassandra.

Cassie kept staring at him but then nodded after a few moments. He carried her and gently put her down on the bed. Cassie then leans on the headboard watching Shun on his movements.

He grabbed the blanket and covered half of her body, and she was sweating. "I will go get you a face towel," he did not leave until Cassie nodded. Once she did, he quickly entered the bathroom and brought a damp hand towel.

"Here, I'll go get you a change of pajamas. Your upper clothe are soaking wet."

Cassie just nodded. After a long moment, he was gone. He handed her an upper pajama to change the soak one. The truth is, he can't decide which one to choose from her closet, so he grabs whatever he finds in the drawer.

His gaze does not leave Cassie's eyes, but he wonders why she's not changing her cloth yet. Cassie is just staring back at him. He just remembers to turn around. Of course, she will be embarrassed to suddenly undressed in front of him.

Why did he not realize that quickly? What's wrong with him?

But he was really disturbed when Joanna texted that Cassie couldn't sleep during rainy nights, especially the stormy ones. She became restless, which led her to stay awake all night. Now, he was worriedly sick.

Damn it. He was too confident to leave Cassie alone because she was inside his mansion with maximum security had been up around the house. But, he actually has to protect her from the typhoon as well, mentally.

"Bro… brother Shun," a weak voice caught by his ears.

He turned around. Cassie finished changing her soak cloth.

"Don't worry. I'll stay here. I won't leave you," he said while motioning for seating next to her, but Cassie seemed wasn't convinced. She gave him a troubled gaze.

"I promise I will just stay by your side… okay?" Shun combed her wet hair from sweating, showing he was comforting her.

Picking up the damp hand towel, he softly pats the cloth on her forehead. "Now, you need to get some rest."

Cassie nodded quickly this time. He helped her lay on the bed and fixed the blanket on her body. She closed her eyes, and Shun eagerly watched her slowly fall asleep.

What happens to you, Cassandra? What other things I have not yet known about you? Shun thought.

Her face, this time, is in peace. He was tempted to brush her face, but he didn't want to wake her up.

Shun decided to lay beside her but kept a bit distant. His gaze did not leave Cassie's face, but slowly, his eyelids got heavier, and he fell asleep.

* * *

Cassandra tried to pull the blanket, but it was heavy.

Is it morning already? She slowly opens her eyes just to find Shun's handsome face so close to hers.

Was he sleeping beside her? Her brain freaks out.

Now she was fully awake, staring at him with wide eyes. He was lying above the blanket. That is why it was heavy to pull.

But now, she has an opportunity to get a full glimpse of his face. She was often nervous, and her heart was crazily beating like now that she couldn't have thoroughly looked at Shun's face every time he was too close to her.

Cassie began scanning his face. His thick eyelashes are beautifully paired with his blue eyes. His long nose is handsomely stood proudly in the middle of his facial frame. And his beard seems growing quickly, and it looks like he had to shave them off almost every day. Then his heart-shaped lips...

Wait a minute... why did she begin thinking of these things? No way! She suddenly rolls to her side, forgetting her wounded head on the back. "Ouch…" she moans but quickly covers her mouth.

Not long after, she felt Shun's movements beside her. Did she awaken him? Cassie pretended to sleep. However, she stayed cautious. The bed moved when she felt Shun sit up. She waited then if what he will do next...

Cassie felt Shun's finger brushing off the few strands of hair covering her face; she tucked it behind her ears. She also felt Shun's hand on her forehead, like checking if she still had a fever.

"Hmm... why does her face was red? But she doesn't have a fever anymore..."

She heard Shun murmurs. He then left the bed and stepped out of the room. Cassie was just able to breathe. She then touched her face. Did she really blush? That was embarrassing then!

Cassie is now rolling on the bed until she reaches the part of Shun lying all night. It was warm, and it smelled of him.

She sits up from the bed. Why has she frequently thought of his smell lately?

That was not appropriate to do! Cassie shook her head until she felt the wound throbbing slightly. She stopped and settled herself on top of the bed.
