New World

Back at the real world, Razzel was laughing maniacally.

"Hehe, ehehee. Poor sinners of the world. They don't even know what will happen to them. They think that the game world is better? Hah! Wishful thinking! They only have 5 years to clear that game. And if no one is capable of clearing it, they will disappear with it."

Since you like it there so much, I'll do the pleasure of sending you all off when that time comes. Hahaha, Ahahahahaha!~

...

Jairus found it incredulous.

"How did that guy do all this? We can't logout? We'll be stuck here? We can't go out if nobody clears it? And if we really are immortal here, why would that engineer not be here then? If this was really a wonderful place as what he described it, why doesn't he live here then? There is definitely something wrong here."

He looked around him and what he saw was people with smiles on their faces. It seems that not being able to logout doesn't concern them at all. Well, it is to be expected considering that the world outside spells the word 'Desolate'.

With that, people started 'playing' the game.

"Oh well, might as well go on with all of this."

Being new inside the game, he decided to explore and started walking. He walked by a lady NPC and stood there.

"Fuck! here comes my communication problem, I can't start a conversation at all."

"Hey little brother, what's the problem? Am I that cute for you to be staring at me? It's uncomfortable being stared like that you know."

Oh, so NPCs can start conversations too.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, its just that I have difficulties approaching people."

"Aren't you the shy type then? So, what are you here for?" the NPC said while giggling.

"Hehe, I'm Jai, an adventurer. I was wondering if you have something for me to do, tasks or quests maybe?"

"Jai? What a good name. Nice to meet you, my name is Lolita. Well I do have one task for you. There are wolves wondering around town, eyeing our farm animals and it also, they scare the village people. Why don't you kill some of them and bring me back ten of its fur as proof. I could use some for tailoring."

A window popped up in front of Jai.

Quest: Wolves Around Town (Difficulty: C)

Kill 10 Wolves and bring back its fur.

Progress: 0/10

Description: "Wolves have been eyeing the farm animals in village and also the villagers couldn't get to sleep because of the wolves howling at night. Everything became troublesome. They wanted to get rid of them but apparently, only a few are strong enough to fend them off. Help the villagers get rid of the wolves."

Aside from that, Jai received Lolita's information.

Lv 20 Lolita

Grade: Elite NPC

Race: Human

Status: Friendly

Lolita is the village chief's daughter. Although being a girl with a petite body, Lolita is one of the village warriors who protects the village from harm. She fights with a hammer that could smash you into smithereens.

After a quick scan, Jai started walking. He didn't try to complete the quest yet. After a while, he smelled something fragrant and followed the smell. He walked around the village and stopped by a food cart.

"Boy, if you're not here to buy, you better get lost. You'll only get hungrier every second you stare at the food." The shopkeeper said while laughing out loud.

"No sir. I'm just admiring the beauty of your food. It interests me how I can smell it even from a distance." Jai said politely.

"Haha, you flatter me young man. I'm Mit, I'm the village cook, I cook for the village every year during the festival. I am a warrior too, I'll be in the front lines whenever enemies raid the village. I see that you're very interested in cooking. I have something for you to do if you like, and I'll give you something in exchange."

He took a quick scan at the NPC information.

"Hm, another quest?"

Mit the Cook

Grade: Elite NPC

Race: Human

Status: Friendly

Mit, the village cook is also a warrior. He uses his butching knife as a weapon and hacks enemies into mutilated corpses. Despite his kind nature, Mit is a very ruthless individual.

"Hello sir Mit. I'm Jai, an adventurer. About the quest, what do you want me to do? I'll take it if I can do it!"

Mit laughed as he says, "Good good! Well, it's a simple task, even a 7-year old child could complete it. If not for me being busy over here, I would've done it. Why don't you go to the vegetable farm and go get me some Round Grass for me, hm?."

Quest: Round Grass (Difficulty: D)

Gather round grasses located at the vegetable farm.

Progress: 0/20

Description: "Mit requires these round grasses for the next cuisine, but he can't get it done because he's too busy at his food cart. Go to the vegetable farm and gather twenty round grasses and give them back to Mit."

"Alright, sounds like a rather easy thing to do"

Jai left the shop and started walking. Since he was not familiar with the village structure, he commanded 'Map' to his phone. Then a window popped up showing the detailed outline of the map. Apparently, the 'Map' command has an additional effect. If one says 'Go to (Location)', an arrow serving as a guide will show in front of them.

Jai decided to give it a try.

"Go to Vegetable Farm"

A blue arrow appeared in front of Jai and he followed it to where it was directing. However, he did not walk for too long and arrived at the destination. There were no players to be seen. Maybe because the quest was too easy and guessed the rewards to be too cheap.

The vegetable farm was quite a big piece of land. After walking around he found what he was looking for. Round grass was actually a cabbage. Laughing at the name of the vegetable, Jai started picking it up. Since this was a quest, picking up the cabbages required a channeling time. One cannot just say 'Keep' and go. Well, it's a different story if the quest item is a drop from monsters.
