At this time, Lu Meili was just being taken to a higher place, located in the forest.
She was still observing the beasts' movements, and it seemed that they were not particularly after them, since they were not chasing them on the hill.
Despite that, Long Jun and the rest were not slowing down until they reached a place that they felt was safe enough to be able to rest and fully take in the situation within the Thunder Forest.
Lu Meili could give credit to Long Jun's group, as they were quick and silent in their movements. She had already noticed that earlier when she was fighting them.
Most of the male shifters with them could hide their scent and were also able to blend in the environment efficiently.
It did not take long for them to reach a cliff that was not too far from the hill Lu Meili and Long Cheng had been.
There were no beasts around, but the damage that was done by the Thunders earlier was still noticeable.
When they halted, they turned around and watched the beasts' movements from above. From their current position, they were able to see everything.
This position was also better for Lu Meili to observe. Long Jun had carefully put her down earlier but still made sure to keep her close, by holding the enchanted rope around her.
Not only that, Long Jun did not release his hold from her side, probably his assurance, so she would not escape.
Lu Meili did not mind. She was more curious about what the beasts were up to or where they were heading to.
Because of that, she noticed that the high number of beasts looked too organized as they seemed to be running away from something.
"So this is how a beast tide looks like on this planet? Are you really sure?" Lu Meili asked to no one in particular. Her voice laced with sarcasm.
"Tsk. Shut up if you are not saying anything good." The male shifter that Lu Meili had kicked earlier hissed.
Lou Mary and Lou Hana snickered hearing them. Lu Meili just shook her head because of the childishness of the dragon shifters around her. She then shrugged her shoulders dismissively. There was no use arguing with someone who had their own solid beliefs.
For her, though the distraction in the environment could not be denied, the beasts, large and small, were not fighting at all which made Lu Meili suspicious.
She also noticed something very important but decided to wait before talking about it.
'BEEP!'
'BEEP!'
Just as Lu Meili was focusing on another task, she heard the familiar beeping sound of her communicator that was connected to Lulu.
'Who could it be?' Lu Meili wondered.
Even though curious, Lu Meili still did not verbalize her approval to accept the contact as it was too dangerous. She was too close to Long Jun, and it would be easy for him to notice that she was talking to someone else. It was already a good thing that no one noticed the beeping sound.
"Do you think the others are at a safe distance?" One of them murmured silently.
Long Jun was unable to answer as he was worried himself. He looked at the communicator device which looked more like a watch on his wrist and prepared to contact his other subordinates.
"Long Jun! Get your hands away from Meili!" Long Cheng suddenly yelled, not far away from them. He was able to catch up with them.
If Lu Meili had not seen his disheveled appearance because of the Thunder attacks earlier, she would have assumed that all the scratches or dirt on his body was because the beasts were chasing him.
After releasing a deep breath, "Great. Of all the things that you have to say, you will talk about nonsense. We were looking for you this whole time. This is all your fvcking fault!"Long Jun responded, sounding so disappointed.
His tone did nothing for Long Cheng, though. Instead of feeling guilty, he quickly approached them. Long Cheng was able to catch up with them, and since Long Jun was so busy being worried, he failed to notice, when Long Cheng appeared behind him and grabbed Lu Meili.
Instead of letting Long Cheng get her, Lu Meili used Long Jun as a shield against him.
"Meili!" Long Cheng exclaimed, thoroughly appalled. He desperately wanted to see her and check if she was alright, despite her leaving him to deal with the Thunder Wolves alone.
