The Mirror. Chapter 6. Jeshan

Thanks to my green glass cube, I could see: nothing.

Really, I did think that my glass would glow more than it did. Like it literally illuminated an inch of what was around me, so I guess it was a good thing I knew these hallways like...

I thought. "The inside of my backpack?" I nodded, it was a pretty good comparison, seeing that my backpack was an endless abyss, literally.

I shook my cube, trying to get it to glow more. Eventually I tried the unfailing tactic; banging it against my right thigh, until it worked.

    "I'll fix it!"

but of course, it of course it only glowed like the smallest bit more possible. I sighed and tried to navigate my way through the hall as best I could.                                                                Suddenly, as I turned a corner there was a faint light at the end of the hallway. I hesitantly walked closer, my eyes still adjusting to the sudden light. As I adjusted and got closer, I saw that I had navigated my way around correctly, because sure enough there was Mira, and someone was with her.

I smiled, and congratulated myself that I had finally found Mira again and-

    Wait. Someone was with her?

With Mira, in a hallway in the dark, alone?! Together?!

    "Well crap."

I threw my useless glow cube, and the cup along with it, as I sprinted like an angry raptor ready  to rip Chris Pratt's face off. As I saw more details of the person with her, I was 101.3% sure that it was someone that I would never leave Mira alone with, or anyone under the age of thirty.

They must have heard me, because they both turned their heads in my direction. Well there goes my element of surprise. I thought. It didn't matter, I could easily deck this guy.

Summoning all my raptor impulse, and all my hate for Chris Pratt, which was like the equivalent of 0%, I jumped and flew straight at the guys middle, wrapping my arms around him and throwing him on the ground with a loud thumping sound.

"AHHG!!" The guy started to scream, but the force of the fall knocked the breath out of him.

"Jes-id!" I heard Mira scream something along those lines.

"Mira! Go for the nearest exit!"

"What!? No! Get off of him Jeshan!"

The creepy guy I had decked to the floor looked at me. "Yeah...That would probably be best. Seeing that the chick is taking my side," He smirked.

"What? Mira, who is this guy?"

    "He's...." She faltered. "Um...Sid."

"Sid Molc," he strained his hand toward me, though it was pinned to his side. "Nice to meet ya."

I looked away from his weird face "Seriously Mira, you need to stop believing every beat-up thing that comes your way."

Mira blushed hotly. "Well...That's not true. I don't."

"Sure...Just like how you didn't believe that poor old woman was homeless. You literally were taking her to your house! I had to stop you before you let that thief into your home!"

"Well how was I supposed to know that she was lying?!"

"Because she literally does that to everyone! For years she's been doing that! Everyone learned to ignore her like three years ago. How could you miss the memo?!"

"Well how did you get the memo?! You've only been here for like six months-!"

    "Eight"

Mira opened her mouth to say something, but Sid interrupted. "Can the parents please stop fighting for one second?" We looked at him, Mira with a look of pure interest, and I with one of annoyance. Sid sighed. "Listen, I'm not a poor old homeless woman....So could you just let me do what I was trying to do?"

I laughed. "You think we're just going to believe you?" I looked over at Mira who was nodding, I did a double take. "Wha...See! Mira this is what I'm talking about!"

"Fine...We'll do it the hard way."

"What do you me-" I looked at him, a little too late. Charcoal colored glass sprouted up from all sides, arced over Sid, ripped me from him, and sent me flying in the opposite direction. I lay on the hard floor of the school hallway, groaning. When my brain decided to kick in, I managed to get to a standing position. Sid was standing slightly behind Mira, who was against the wall her face white. His eyes were glowing a molten lava color, his hands a coal color, and he had a creepy smirk on his face.

I positioned my stance to get a better grip on the floor, then my vision turned green, and green smoke curled around my hands. I focused and stretched out both hands then twisted them in a clock like way. Green glass twisted, swirled, and bent towards Sid. He saw the attack coming and formed glass steps that turned into a slope. Sid slid down the slope aiming a kick at my head. I quickly threw up my hands, making a pillar of glass sprout in front of me, then wrapped itself around Sid's flying leg. As soon as it was secured to his leg, I grew the glass around his other leg up to his waist, so he was stuck in midair in a kind of flying kick position.

Sid smiled.

"It looks like I've found an agent of The Mirror."
