After Xuan Yu left the Academy Field, something interesting happened. That would lead to an unexpected problem.
"Well then since you guys decided to let Xuan Yu go unchallenged. Why not try out your challenge token on Ming Xie?"
Back on the Academy Field Mou Lin posed his suggestion to Class 1-A.
"If it's fine with everyone, can I have the first challenge?"
Surprising some of the group Xuan Yi stepped forth. And since no one objected held out the challenge token like he had been taught.
"Is this revenge for earlier?"
Instead of saying anything Xuan Yi just shook his head. Not getting a response Ming Xie shrugged. And as a particularly chill wind blew across the field, blowing their light grey robes. Ming Xie used a hand to keep her long white hair out of her face.
The gunbai in the center of the challenge token began to glow as its entirety vibrated. Once the gunbai glow reached it's peak. The rest of the medallion began to glow as well, albeit to a lesser degree, until the entire medallion was glowing. The moon and gunbai glowing brighter than the rest. With the token fully activated there was one thing for Ming Xie to do.
"Accept."
The glow quickly faded as the token turned gray.
"You can have the first move."
Ming Xie said casually, crossing her arms she relaxed herself completely. Xuan Yi nodded, tensed himself and began a series of hand signs.
After he passed 5, most of those around were curious. After he passed 10, they were expectant. After he passed 15, they were confused. After he passed 20, they were deeply confused. After he passed 25, some thought he was showing off. After 30, they had no guesses as to what he was doing and at 31;
Xuan Yi slowly clasped his hands and pushed them outwards. Qi visibly flashed like lightning around him. The wind picked up blowing about fiercely. The grass around his feet rippled away from him. And all of Class 1-A looked on with varying interest.
Mou Lin on the other hand put a hand to his head. Feeling an incoming headache. His half-closed eyes took on a glow. And he prepared himself to move.
Xuan Yi's hands tensed and sweat dripped down his face. In front of his now pale knuckles Qi gathered from two different directions. The aquamarine concentration forming into a small sparking ball, a few inches from his knuckles.
Next Xuan Yi, spread his hands apart till just his wrist were touching, his fingers slightly bent. As the ball grew bigger and bigger until it was as large as fist.
Then it stilled and so did the area around them.
"Haaah!"
Xuan Yu pushed outward, and a lotus bloomed. A brilliant purple burning lotus. Spreading outward and forward as it radiated immense heat. Overwhelmed, Ming Xie didn't move, her entire vision was blocked by purple fire. She didn't see how she could evade it even with her Third Hunt activated.
But of course before it harmed her Mou Lin saved her and from the side she could see a hint of the massive spell.

After the three students who challenged Xuan Yu were taken away the crowd stood in momentary shock.
"Who would have though that Xuan Yu was so dangerous?"
Someone in the crowd questioned with a laugh. Breaking the silence.
"Well he did settle that little rebellion the mortals pulled off?"
Answered a monotone voice. The mention of that former rebellion got the small crowd buzzing. Some laughter, an "I thought it was exaggerated" other comments of disbelief, some rumors of the event and their own thoughts on it. That all quickly became disdain for the rebellion and lowly mortals.
"They were a small group not something the entire mortal ring tried to pull!"
In the group of minor cultivator families that brittle voice seemed particularly loud. Especially with the silence that followed.
"What do you care?"
That cold voice was the first of many beratements that came down on that brittle voice.
"Yeah, are you with them or with us."
And that was the first of the accusations.
"Enough, I advise you not to wave your prejudices around the academy we are all... equal here. And you if you are so inclined to the soil bloods, go and join them."
With the voice of their leader the rest of the group fell silent. Crossing his arms he tapped his foot and thought for a bit and then pointed at three of the group members.
"You, you and you will test the other Class 1-A students, see how they stack up."
With that command the group moved out once more. The three who were picked out weren't in the front of the group. Instead they moved closer to each other together to figure out their plan of attack. While the leader of the party hung out in the back. And called the owner of that brittle voice to his side.
"My little half-blood, do try to read the mood. Or go back to-…"
He found trouble finishing what he was saying as he saw the Moon Fire Lotus. Understandably, since no one else in the crowd was able to talk either. A lotus of fire high enough to take out half of any of the Academy buildings. Wide enough to take out its foundation. And much more than enough to turn their entire group into ash.
It was several minutes before anyone spoke. Well after the formation in the Academy Field dispersed the remnants of the spell. Eventually with a barely steady voice the leader was the one who broke the silence.
"… Let's, return. There's nothing to do here."
