Contract Marriage

In the present day Ron managed to get a job with a market research firm. His job was to train the new joiners and to help them get settled in. During the course of 6 months, his dreams were riddled with what happened between him and Nina. Every night he would wake up screaming at the image of Nina lying on the floor after he'd pushed her. Everytime he wanted to stop himself, but what could he do? After all its just a memory he had been responsible for. He tried dating other people. But whenever he was about to kiss the girl, he ended up seeing Nina's face. The flustered face which she made crept up his mind. Thus he wasn't even able to have sex with anyone. Whenever he tried to relieve himself, he would remember Nina's lips on his body kissing, sucking and licking him all over. That day he spent with Nina on the island, she did everything he requested her to without any hesitation. He now wished she was by his side. Even if he couldn't be with her, just her being alive and breathing was all he wanted.

The day Ron was chased after, it was his Marshall who leaked the information to the Mob. Ron notified the company about the betrayal and had the Marshall fired and arrested for endangering a witness.

Ron now had to work with another Marshall the company had selected. This time it's a team of three people taking turns looking after him. He is required to enter a contract marriage with one of the Marshall to allow them to be together 24 by 7 for any number of days required. He sat in the office looking at the profile of the person he is supposed to marry.

Looking at the profile didn't help at all. All he kept thinking was that no matter who it was no one compared to Nina. Not even the girl he saw at the dance contest. Nina was a slow speaker. Never spoke unless spoken to. She had a kind disposition and was very polite to all no matter how they treated her. Nina's lookalike was different. She was fierce. Should there be a chance, she would rather strangle him than kill the people coming after him.

But at the back of his mind, he still couldn't bring himself to believe that she was Nina's lookalike. He was skeptical since he never saw Nina's dead body nor did he see her getting cremated. He was just informed of her death. But could he doubt his ex-boss? What benefit would he gain from lying about it? Maybe he just had an overactive imagination. Perhaps, his mind was playing tricks on him. Maybe what he now needed was a psychological help.

The manager Mr. Li entered and sat across Ron. He spoke "Black Angel" teams on the way here. Let's wait.

After an hour of waiting, 3 people covered in muck entered the room. Li redirected them to the company bathroom with a change of clothes. After bathing, the trio returned to the conference room. The sight of the girl shocked Ron so much that he fell off the chair. She was none other than Nina's lookalike. She glanced at Ron and shifted her gaze to the manager. She spoke with a raspy voice "So where's my witness?"

Li replied "The one gaping at your face." She turned to look at Ron and spat "Oh! So the pervert who gropes any woman he lays an eye on!"

Shocked the Li demanded an explanation "Please elaborate". Angela spoke "Sir, the drugs case I worked before this where I participated in the dance contest, this man grabbed my hand and accused me of being promiscuous. He claimed that I was sleeping around with Ry and Kev."

Li understood the situation. But the only way out is to go ahead with the contract marriage and to secure Ron with a Marshall. He wasn't going to let another of his brilliant male staff to be sacrificed on Ron who is no longer useful to the organization. Even though Ron helped bring one of the biggest crime syndicate boss to the books it was the end of the road. He wasn't going to be of any more use. So instead of using the best male Marshall he teamed Ron with a female Marshall. After all how much can females can do compared to male counterpart? Females only job is to handle household activities and bear children. According to Li any working woman was a disaster waiting to happen.

Li strategically spoke "None of the Marshall's assigned to him survived. Looking at the number of cases solved by you guys I'm assigning him to you. Please make me proud."

Still not convinced about the situation Angela pulled Li aside and demanded that she wouldn't be signing the contract. Li commanded "Angela, I'll give you two options. Get married to him and look after him. Else be ready to leave witness protection. Choice is yours. Choose carefully. With you your beloved friends will also be thrown out of witness protection."

After careful consideration Angela asked "Is there anyway I can not sign the contract and still remain in witness protection?"

Li replied "If Ron rejects it, you can stay and he can go." Having heard this Angela was even more determined to stay in witness protection.

Angela walked towards Ron and announced "I'll sign the contract. But I have my conditions too. None of his previous Marshalls survived. I need to add the benefits I receive for looking after him."

Ron was dumbfounded. He expected her to reject him. All he could do was stare at her back as she and her friends made their way out.

Ron spent the rest of the day thinking about Nina and Angela. He was comparing them. Both had the same figure, height and weight. Same skin complexion. Same hands. Same pair of lips. Ron then realized something. He got an erection only when thinking about Nina. No matter how many girls he tried to bed, no one could incite those feelings in him. He couldn't get erect even on seeing anyone completely naked. He thought it was erectile disfunction. He wanted to give it a little while before trying again. But now this girl who resembled Nina could arouse him with just a look. He wanted to get away from her. After all he was the one who pushed Nina to her death. He still felt guilty about that day and wished everyday to re-write that day. He called up Angela and set up a meeting the next morning.

Next day dressed neatly in a white shirt, Ron looking handsome. Every female who passed him gave him a long gaze. Some even had the guts to squeeze his groin just to draw his attention. While waiting for Angela he was thinking about what he needed to say to get her to back off.

Angela dressed in a black dress was an unforgettable sight too. Men too stopped to gaze at her. Someone even tried to flirt with her and tried touching her. Soon the guy was on the floor with a red face with a slap mark clutching his crotch. Anyone who could see understood that she wasn't someone to be messed with. She made her way to where Ron was seated.

Before discussing, Ron ordered French toast while Angela ordered Bullseye, egg omelet, boiled eggs and tea. Ron once again started comparing eating habits of the two women. Nina was a vegetarian while the one sitting in front of him gorged on eggs. She was definitely not Nina. Nina never touched eggs. Once someone brought plum cakes with eggs and distributed to all. Nina refused saying that she couldn't eat that.

Once out of his daze Ron spoke "I don't want to enter the contract with you. Can you please reject it?" Angela after carefully thinking said "Look, I don't have any problems looking after you. If you have any concerns about me being your Marshall, I suggest that you convince Li. Should he say that I am free to do as I please I won't sign. But I won't be rejecting it either. I hope you understand." Ron quickly agreed and fixed an appointment with Li to reject the offer. That afternoon, in the conference room, Li and Ron discussed the contract. Ron said "Sir, I don't want to marry Angela. Can you please tell Angela that I'm going to enter a contract with her?" Li tried to reason with Ron but he stuck to his guns. Finally after the entire discussion Li explained "Ron I think Angela missed to specify one point of the contract getting rejected. Should any party reject the contract they would be immediately removed from witness protection program. So if you reject it, then you would be out for good." Ron then realized what had happened. Angela was ready to accept the contract but said she would back out if Li agreed. However, she wouldn't be rejecting the contract and manipulated Ron to do so. Such a sly fox. Ron then decided to play the game and accepted the offer.

Next day he and Angela were married. The terms of contract were as follows:

1) Ron won't be sleeping with or getting into a relationship with anyone.

2) Nina won't be sleeping with or getting into a relationship with anyone.

3) Should any one of the parties die, their monetary value is given to the blood relative whose name is in the nomination.

4) Ryan and Kevin should no longer be in the witness protection program. They should be relocated to Spain.

5) Should the contract be terminated and one party earns less than the other, they won't be able to claim alimony.

6) No party shall be having rights to property, assets and money belonging to the other party.

The contract was signed and registered. They were now husband and wife in name only.
