Chapter 37 - Anya

I peeked my head out the door looking both ways. There wasn't a soul in sight if anything it was quiet, too quiet. I walked into the hallway and I notice there was nothing but a bunch of white double doors in the hall.

My door was the only door with gold lining the rest were just plain white. I'm going to assume all these doors are all bedroom doors.

I need to hurry before Lucy gets back. I thought to myself shutting my door as softly as I could jogging down the hall until I reached the corner.

I took a deep breath of fresh air and worked up the nerve to peek my head out but there was just another long hallway. I continued to jog down hallways after hallways until I was out of breath and lost.

This place was like a endless maze, every time I turned a corner there was just another empty hallway.

Maybe this place isn't the palace, if this was the palace shouldn't it be crawling with guards? But then that would mean Lucy was lying to me.

No she wouldn't lie to me. . I don't think she would anyways. Maybe it has something to do with that meeting she was talking about, I don't know!

I wanted to throw a tantrum like a two year old but then I heard faint voices down the hall. I hid myself in one of the bedrooms and put my ear to the door. I could hear foot steps getting closer and closer.

The foot steps stop close to where I was hiding, "did you hear that?" Said a male's voice. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest. I covered my mouth with my hands trying to control my rapid breathing.

"No I didn't hear anything. Your probably hearing things like aways." Said another male voice in a teasing manner.

"Come on let's finish patrolling the halls so we can go drinking." Said the teasing man. "Yeah. . your probably right." They started walking again and I waited until I couldn't hear there foot steps any longer before I opened the bedroom door.

I need to be more cautious form here on. There maybe more guards up a head and it would really suck if I got caught for being careless. I thought to myself as I walked cautiously down the long hall that felt like it went on for miles.

I finally reached the end of the hallway that turned left or right. I looked left and noticed the doors were white like the rest of the doors I've seen so far but when I looked right, everything was more elegant looking even the doors were a beautiful soft grey that reminded me of the color of my eyes.

How unusual, I thought to myself as I decided to turn right. I kept walking down the hall and the further I went the more uneasy I felt. I stop dead in my tracks when I reached a corner that turned left.

I could feel my heart in my throat and sweat running down my neck. My body is telling me there is something sinister and dark around this corner.

My hands were shaking uncontrollably, I had to ball my hands into fists to stop the shaking.

Stop Anya there is no such thing as the boogeyman you will be fine now put one foot in front of the other. I told myself trying to work up the courage to continue to move forward.

After a few deep breaths, I peeked my head around the corner and there were two guards guarding a very large set of red doors. I poked my head back so the guards couldn't see me but relief ran through my body.

I don't know why I was so scared. My senses must be all messed up from the lack of food but I think I found the entrance to the palace, if I can just find a way to get the guards to leave their post for just a few seconds I can make a dash to the doors. I thought to myself trying figure out a way to get them to leave.

After a few seconds I noticed a small black door a few feet away. I opened the door slowly peeking my head in. There was a bunch of furniture in the room, it kinda reminded me of a loft.

I slowly walked in and noticed a coffee table that had a glass bowl sitting on top of it with glass marbles in it. It felt like a light bulb went off in my head.

I grabbed a handful of small marbles and walked to the door opening it quietly. I throw the marbles as hard as I could down the hall, shutting the door most of the way.

I could hear the marbles shattering in the hall and I heard the guards running past my door in a hurry.

I took the chance I made for myself and dashed out the door in a hurry running to the red doors around the corner. I tried to push the door open but it wouldn't budge no matter how hard I pushed.

Come on fucking open! I screamed in my head until I looked up and noticed the large gold handle.

Fuck you are so stupid Anya! I yelled at myself pulling on the handle. I could hear the guards rushing back and my heart was pounding in my ears.

The door was finally opening up a little and I forced it open little more until I could squeeze myself in and I shut the door as fast as I could pressing my ear to the door hoping that they didn't hear me.

A few seconds felt like eternity but they didn't so much as try to open the door. I took a few steps back letting out a deep sigh feeling relieved until I heard someone clear their throat.

I spun around real fast and noticed several pair of eyes on me. I recognize one set of eyes on me right away. The blue eye creep from the tea shop was sitting down at a very large conference table that you see in movies. His face read that he was surprised to see me but his eyes darkened glaring at me.

I narrowed my eyes glaring right back at him. What the hell is he doing here?
