Chapter 39 - Quinn

"Alright just ten more minutes guys." Dimitri said standing up putting his hiking backpack on his back. Ace and I followed suit brushing the sand off our clothes.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared. The memories of the last time I was in a wormhole was one of the most terrifying moments of my life.

My breathing kept increasing rapidly and doubt was creeping into my mind until I felt Ace's hand squeeze my shoulder tight.

"It's okay we will be here with you this time and I will do everything in my power to protect you and everyone I care about." Ace said seriously looking in to my eyes. There was no doubt or hesitation in his ruby eyes nothing sheer determination. The doubt I felt seemed to wash away just by watching him. He squeezed my shoulder one more time before letting go.

After a few minutes of silence the wind started picking up and slowly started to form around us.

"Here it comes!" I yelled watching the wall of wind form perfectly around us.

The circle Dimitri created was shrinking by the second forcing us to press our backs together.

The wind kept increasing in speed making our clothes and hair fly in every direction as a black hole started to form above our heads.

"Beautiful." Ace whispered looking mesmerized as he reached out his hand to touch the grey wind. I smacked his hand way from it in a panic.

"Don't be deceived! It may look beautiful and harmless but it will tear you apart!" I yelled at Ace who's feet were slowly lifting off the ground as he come back to his senses.

He was being sucked in just like Anya that dreadful day but mine and Dimitri's feet were still firm on the ground.

I started to panic even more when nothing was happening to me or Dimitri. I don't understand why is it not lifting us up as well.

"Jump and grab on!" Ace yelled reaching out his hands to us. Both me and Dimitri jumped has high as we could grabbing his forearms as the circle started to close.

"We are not going to make it!" I screamed watching the black hole slowly shrink in size, getting smaller and smaller.

"Yes we will!" Ace shouted lifting us up past him with every bit of strength he had throwing me and Dimitri into the black hole and everything became dark. I couldn't see Ace or Dimitri but I could feel there presence near me. Relief swept through my body before I lost complete consciousness.
