Chapter 47 - Quinn

We finally reached a small old town that looked almost deserted if it wasn't for a few people on the street watching us.

They kept their distance, some hiding inside small old raggedy buildings that looked like it could collapse on them at any given moment.

Even some of the women and children hid behind their husband's that looked just as scared as they did.

What's going on here? These people are looking at us like we are monsters or something.

"You have to forgive our people, we are not usually like this. It's just their been a lot of murders happening around in our small village and it's making our people paranoid." Blaze said not even turning her head around to look at us when she spoke with a hint of sadness behind her voice.

"That's just awful. No one has found the person responsible?" I asked shocked and feeling sorry for all these people.

Blaze shook her head no and let out a faint chuckle, "you know Anya asked the same question when she first arrived here." Blaze said stopping in front of a small building. "Well this is the tea shop, the wagon goes in the back if you'll follow me." She said to Ace who still had his guard up but nodded his head.

"You two can go into the shop, my brother is in there but he's probably still sulking in his bedroom." She said leaving me and Dimitri alone in front of the shop.

Dimitri glanced at me gripping the gun in the back of his pants opening the front door slowly. I followed him inside keeping close to him.

For all we know we are walking into a trap but my shoulders loosened up when it was just us inside.

The scenery was something from ancient times, everything was out dated, old, and worn out. It was small and gloomy in the inside with a few beautiful dark chestnut colored tables and chairs. Their was even a small bar and some stools in the corner of the room.

I walked further in noticing a small dense hallway at the other end of the shop when Ace and Blaze came in to the front.

"Looks like my brother is still in his room. I'll go wake him, you can sit where ever you like." Blaze said sounding irritated leaving us alone.

"I don't think she's lying." Dimitri said sitting down at a table. "Your just saying that cause she has a pretty face." Ace said bluntly and we both followed suit sitting down next to him. Dimitri didn't deny it but he shot Ace a glare when we heard Blaze banging on a door.

"Jet wake up! We have important guest!" Blaze said practically screaming. She looks nothing like Anya but their personalities are quite similar. I couldn't help but grin at the thought.

Blaze came back smiling with a large man behind her. He looked just like her but their was nothing cheery about him. His eyes seemed almost dead, he seemed almost dead.

With my medical background I could tell he wasn't eating or drinking enough. I could also tell he was severely depressed but you don't have to be a doctor to notice his sadness. He took one look at us with his hollow eyes and blinked a few times before a small hint of life lit up in his honey brown eyes.

"Anya's brothers." He whispered dryly sinking to his knees. I rushed out of my seat straight to him.

"Bring me some water." I said seriously looking at Blaze who nodded her head running to a set of doors.

"Ace get my medical bag out of my hicking bookbag." I said without looking at him. I checked his pulse which was normal.

That's good his pulse is perfectly fine he needs to eat and rehydrate. The only thing I don't understand is he's purposely doing this to himself. Is he trying to kill himself or is he just that depressed?

"I have some candy in my bag that should help for now." I whispered to myself when Ace put my small medical bag in front of me.

"Thanks." I said opening it pulling out some hard caramel candies when Blaze came back with a cup of water.

She helped him drink it until it was completely empty and I put a piece of candy in his mouth afterwards.

"Suck on that for a few minutes but you really need to eat some real food as soon as possible." I said seriously staring into his eyes.

"Quinn," he whispered my name looking back at me with his tender brown eyes. I was dumbfounded just staring at his like a dumbass trying to figure out how he knew my name when I never gave it to him.

"Your name is Quinn right? The doctor." He said chuckling when he saw the confession written on my face.

His eyes shifted to Dimitri, "and your Dimitri the flirt." He said kindly with a smile that reached his eyes, "Anya talked a lot about you." He stood up looking at all three of us but went back to Ace studying him more then me and Dimitri.

His eyes became unreadable almost emotionless when he stared into Ace's eyes. "And Ace the strong one." He said and I could be hearing things but I could have sworn I heard a tad bit of hate in his voice.

After batting his eyes a few times they soften going back to normal almost as if I imagined the whole thing but the look on Ace's face said he heard the hate too and the air started thickening up.

At the corner of my eye I seen Blaze jump up braking the tension. "I'm going to go make some tea and snacks and this time you will eat it Jet. If have to force it down your throat I will!" She said scolding her brother leaving the room.

"Where is Anya?" Ace asked taking a threatening step towards Jet. I could tell he was trying to control his rage when he looked at Jet with his eyes darkening. "She's at the palace." Jet whispered sorrowfully looking down at his hands.

"Why is she there? How do I know your not lying? How do we even know you are human and not some weird creature that looks human." Ace asked angrily with his voice rising with every question he asked.

Jet got up unfazed by Ace's attitude towards him, "you want proof okay, I'll give you proof." Jet said leaving the room and after a few minutes he came back with Anya's black gym bag.

We all let out a gasp, "Anya's gym bag." I whispered to myself remembering she was carrying that bag before she disappeared in the wormhole.

"If we didn't know Anya why would we have her stuff and why would she draw us if we were her enemy." Jet said pulling out her sketchbook showing us Anya's drawings.

He's right, Anya only draws people she cares for or things that catch her artistic eye. Ace looked relieved and happy going through all of Anya's drawings for a moment until he saw the drawing of Jet.

I could tell Anya took her time drawing his face, every detail was on point. It looked just like him but it didn't at the same time which means she sees him in a different light then the rest of us.

She has only ever drawed the three of us like this. She must really care for him and by the looks of it Ace is not happy about it at all.

He narrowed his eyes dangerously at Jet and before any of us could stop him he lunged at him picking him up by the collar of his shirt.

Oh no, Ace is hard to control when his instinct to protect Anya kicks in. He is the main reason why she never had a boyfriend. He's just way to over proactive but Anya never seemed to mind because she hasn't found someone she's interested in. . yet.

"My sister is the most important person in the world to me and if you so much as laid a finger on her. . I'll fucking kill you here and now." Ace growled whispering dangerously to him. His voice made the hair on the back of neck stand but Jet just looked at him calmly.

"You have nothing to worry about. She doesn't look at me like that, she made that very clear when she compared me to you." Jet said sharply yanking Ace's fists away from the collar of his shirt.

Ace looked taken back for a moment then Blaze came bursting through the doors. "Okay foods ready come an eat before it gets cold and I'll fill you in on everything about Anya since she came to our world." A small smile rose on to her lips.

I could feel my eyes widen, She knows we are not from here. Did Anya tell her?

"Don't look so surprised I've known since the day I met her she wasn't from around here. Not only did I see her fall out of the sky. She's just. . different from the rest of us." Blaze said smiling ear to ear.

"She has this amazing ability that attracts people to her. You just want to be around her because she's radiant and her glow makes you feel happy and warm but that also attracted unwanted attention as well. It's not her fault though she was just being herself and that's why she's at the palace." Blaze said turning her back on us. "Now come and eat and I'll tell you all I know."
