I'm Sorry I Couldn't Save You Pt 1 (ShiroxIsabelle)

Isabelle paced back and forth in front of the cyropod her best friend was held in. "Coran! Answer my damn question!!" She shouted, as Isabelle glanced across the med bay at the oldest Altean. "I need to know... I'm sorry for yelling at you..."

"Elle..." Nicole spoke quietly, as she stopped the White Paladin from pacing more. "Shiro, he's... he's not coming back...we need to face it."

"We can't just abandon him!" Tears were pouring from Isabelle's eyes as she screamed what she needed to say. "He NEVER abandoned us when we thought we had to!" Her dark hair was now a bright orange and her skin tone changed to a greyish blue.

"Elle! We're not abandoning him, we're just facing the truth!" Keith exclaimed, pulling the leader into reality. "Shiro is dead and there's nothing we can do about it!!"

Isabelle seemed to calm down; her hair drifted slowly back to her shoulders, but were still a little aflame, and her grey skin had turned to it's original pale colour. She turned around to the cyropod, put her hands up to the glass in front of Shiro's face and rested her head on the glass. "It's been an honour flying with you, Takashi." Her hair shriveled back to it's normal colour as tears ran down her face. "I'm going to miss you so much, Shirogane. I love you."

"We'll all miss you." Keith spoke quietly, standing behind the Argonia with a hand on her shoulder. "It's been an honour flying under your leadership."

As the tears continued through everyone, Isabelle felt the glass vibrate softly, as if the castle was trying to talk to them - but that wasn't possible, only the Lions could communicate with the paladins. "Say something...I'm giving up on you... I'll be the one...if you want me...to..." It broke her heart to sing that song again, without him. "Please, please come back. I won't survive, Takashi, we need you. I...need you." She looked up at the quiet expression of her fellow leader. "You're my best friend, Takashi Shirogane, my partner-in-crime, my other half, my...better half. Without you, I'm nothing..."

"Thanks to Shiro, you're something." Allura spoke up for the first time since Shiro was killed that day. "We all are. Without Shiro, you guys wouldn't be the Paladins of Voltron and wouldn't be saving the universe from the Galra. Thanks to him, we're a family."

Isabelle knew the Altean princess was right, but something was up with the castle. Every light turned off, except the lights from Shiro's cyropod and the one above Isabelle. "Allura, what's the castle doing?"

"I...Coran, do you know?" Princess Allura looked at Coran with concern.

Camera feed rose up on the paladins' wrist plates. Each of their Lions had their particle barriers down and the eyes were the bright yellow they turned to when they was responding of something. The Black and White Lions stood up on Isabelle's camera feed, "are the Lions on autopilot?"

"They would be flying though, and all of them would be." Nicole answered, confusion in her voice.

'Leave a hand on the cyropod' A voice muttered in Isabelle's head.

"What?"

Everyone stared at Isabelle.

'Listen, paladin, Black and I are helping you to bring the Black Paladin back. It's a huge risk, but without a Black Paladin, there's no balance in Voltron.' The White Lion explained to Isabelle.

Now she was definitely confused. "Why doesn't the Black Lion choose another paladin?"

'He doesn't want to. Now listen, please. It's getting frustrating. Using your healing power, try to send the healing through to the Black Paladin and I'll try enforce it into the cyropod to bring him back to life using your love for him. Got it?'

Isabelle nodded, turning and putting both hands on the glass. "Ready, White?" As she used her healing power, Isabelle's eyes turned straight white and her armour began to glow. Now is the time...
