The two of them looked at each other for a while. James was dumbfounded and so was the girl. Then, it dawned onto James that he recognized this girl.
'She's the girl from the dream!'
But James did not say it out loud because that will make things inappropriate. The girl might misunderstand the meaning behind it. Come on, why would a man had a dream about a girl?
Throughout his life, James had not made contact with this girl before, yet she appeared in his dream and her presence did not feel strange to James. The feeling upon seeing her was nostalgic. It felt as a puzzle has been completed and this girl was the last piece to it. But what did the puzzle say or represent, James did not know.
The wind was blowing at James as if the wind was telling him to leave the room.
"Ah…sorry for the intrusion. I will be leaving now."
Room 137, James made a mental note. The room where the dream girl is. He would investigate this matter later on.
"Wait! *cough*…. Don't leave!"
The door was closed halfway and James was startled by her voice asking him to stay.
James reopened the door and peeked.
"Yes?"
"Well, since you are here, would you mind getting me a hamburger
"A hamburger? Do they have it here?"
"Just ask Chef Wan to make it. And please tell him that you are the one asking for it." She put her palm together.
"Hmm, why should I do that?"
"Because they won't serve it to me!"
"Isn't it because you are sick?"
The girl became quiet.
"…I have been eating soft food for so many times. I really crave for some hard food now."
She coughed.
"No, not going to do that, young lady. You are sick. Wait until you are recovered then maybe I will consider doing this favour for you."
"You think I will recover?"
James was stunned by her question. Since he did not know what illness she has, James dare not say anything to raise up her hopes.
'Well, if it is just a cold, perhaps things will get better," thought James.
"I am sure you will," said James.
Well, better be optimistic than nothing.
The girl covered her mouth with her hands and giggled underneath it. Then she rested her chin on her arm while staring out at the window. The wind was still blowing. James could smell a small hint of fragrance carried by the wind towards him.
"Hey, you should close the window. The wind is a bit cold."
"No!"
The strong 'No' threw James off guard. She sounded like a child. However, James figured he should not care too much and decided to leave.
"Hey!" shouted the girl. "Where do you think you are going?"
"Going to my room?"
"Don't you think you should compensate for not getting me a hamburger and intruding into my room?'
"Erm…I don't think so."
James proceed to walk out of the room.
"Wait!" she coughed and that made James stopped his footstep. James could hear the girl breathed a sigh of relief after she finished coughing.
"Well, since you are already here, would you spare some time talking with me?"
You could hear James heavy breathing. To be honest, everything was spiralling out of James's sense of control that he started to feel uncomfortable to do anything. He just wants to go back to his room and sleep. However, he figured to himself: "No harm right?"
James turned around and took a seat beside her bed. The girl's face cracked into a brilliant smile. James could not help but admire the beauty of it.
The girl appeared exactly like how she was in his dream which freaked James out to a degree.
In his head, he was wondering: "Who is this girl and why was she bedridden?"
In his mind, James murmured a silent prayer. He prayed that this girl will be able to conquer her sickness so that she could enjoy her life and not be bedridden like this and talking to a stranger like him.
