20: The Meeting

All 4 of the Masters stood at the side of the chapel. Master Elion was staring blankly ahead. Master Lee was grinning like a madman. Master Ren had a stoic expression and Master Ryan was closing his eyes.

"What are you smiling at you mad fool?" asked Master Ren who couldn't stand Master Lee's smug face.

"Oh, you know, I heard the news and I could not have been more proud."

Father Rick entered the scene and got right to the chase.

"All of you have been summoned for a special announcement. One of the 5 demon lords has been slain."

"Is it that annoying brat Resghvar?" asked Master Lee.

"No, it isn't, Master Lee."

"That's a bummer. So who is it then?"

"It's Bael."

Master Ryan opened his eyes as he was surprised.

"That wriggly worm was slain? That's great news. But who did it?" asked Master Ryan.

"James Charter," said Father Rick.

Master Elion who was not particularly keen in the discussion suddenly started to show some interest.

"James?" asked Master Elion. "The first task of his career and he has slain a demon lord. Impressive."

Master Lee started to laugh loudly. His laughter bounced around the wall of the chapel. Master Ren flinched his eyes at the intrusive sound of his laughter.

"That's my boy!" praised Master Lee.

"Yes. It is an impressive feat. He has accomplished something our organization has tried to do for years and it is still the beginning of his career as one of us," said Father Rick.

"The last time we have someone as impressive as him, it did not end that really well," warned Master Ryan.

"There's no need for you to worry about that. You have planted a seal within James' body. It will be activated if it senses James' soul is corrupted," said Master Elion.

"The boy is alive and you did not receive any feedback means James Charter is pretty much still himself and not being possessed or influenced by a demon," said Father Rick

"That's good to hear," said Master Elion

"So what action are we going to take since now the delicate balance of power has been destroyed by our talented newcomer?" asked Master Ren.

"As all of you here might expect, I predict the other demon lords will begin to make a move after remain in hiding for so long," said Father Rick.

"Other than the 3 ancient demon lords, I am more worried about Resghvar…," said Master Ryan.

"Well, you better don't underestimate the other 3 demon lords when you are busying worrying about that new blood," said Master Lee. "…Especially the one who penetrated my solid defense and gave me a bloody scar."

"Astaroth, the strongest demon lord…" said Master Ren.

"Astaroth, Lus, Pupiar and Reshgvar. These are the names of the remaining demon lords and each possesses remarkable power and influence, we must train our members to hone their skill so that they could survive an encounter with them. We do not want to lose any more of our members in this bloody conflict," said Father Rick

"Father."

"Yes, Master Elion?"

"How about the rumors about the resurrection of Lucifer?"

"Well, that's going to be a real pain in the ass if that turns out to be true," commented Master Lee.

"We have not received any information that the demon lords are plotting to resurrect their master. But we will pray to Lord that would not come true. However, I am confident that if all of the demon lords perished then surely, the resurrection of Lucifer would not be realized," said Father Rick.

"Moving on, I would like to urge everyone of you as Master to increase the training for your members to prepare themselves for the possible war between the demon lords faction and us. It would not be a smooth fight so everyone must be prepared to encounter high tier demons from now on. As for James Charter, I hope all of the Masters here will train him each of your soul aspects so that he will ultimately become our greatest weapon in dealing with the demons."

"Him using all of the Soul aspects?" asked Master Ryan. "Most people can only 2 parts of their Soul. Why are you asking him to do something impossible?"

"Hey, don't underestimate, my boy," said Master Lee.

"I agree with Master Lee. That boy is not someone I would consider normal. And my speculation is correct after hearing him being the one responsible for the death of a demon lord," said Master Elion. "You would know if you started training him. His body is like an empty cup, waiting to be filled with knowledge and skills. Within a few weeks, he has almost mastered the usage of his air element."

"I agree with Master Elion. If you look back at his history. He killed a demon without a Holy Weapon. He quickly recovered from Master Lee's soul attack and even master the usage of Soul during the hellish training we provide him. Furthermore, he was, what Tubal described as, the man who is the master of all elements," said Father Rick.

All of the Master was stunned by the statement.

"Tubal said that?" asked Master Ren.

Father Rick nodded his head.

"With that being said, I wish to adjourn this meeting. I hope you all will start training James Charter and mold him into our greatest weapon against the demons as well as training each one of our Exorcists members to fight off the upcoming battles with the demons. God bless us all.

Meanwhile, as all of the Master's retreated to their respective room. A girl who was sitting on her bed beside the window was eavesdropping the entire discussion.

"You are mistaken, Father Rick, Tubal and all of the Masters. He is not the Master of all Elements. He is someone we would describe as a Devourer or an illogical and irrational existence. Normal order doesn't work on him. He is Chaos."
