Why am I here?

James felt a touch behind his back.

"Greetings wandering traveler."

James turned around and see a man wearing a suit accompanied with a fedora hat. "You are?"

"Oh, forget about me already?"

He took down the fedora hat he is wearing.

"It's ya boi, Pupiar."

"Why are you here?" asked James.

"It seems you need some guidance to reach your destination you have in mind."

"Now that you mention it, I do actually."

"And now the problem is, I sensed something is wrong when I teleported you out of that Small Little world."

"What's wrong about it?" asked James.

"You see, mister James-san, I was supposed to teleport you to where you original came from. But now, you ended up here, in the capital of Sol."

James take a good look around the surrounding. Well-build buildings. People walking around in fancy clothing. The road is wide enough for 3 horse cart to fit through.

"Move out of the way!" shouted the rider.

Pupiar pulled James aside.

"I doubt this is where you want to end up in."

"How did I end up here?"

"Hmm, I have no idea to be honest. And it seems getting out is going to take some time. Where is it that you want to go, James?"

"Yugoslav."

"Ah, that is very far from here. I need 3 days to prepare. Can you wait for it?"

"Sure."

"Alright then, why not you occupied yourself with some tasks here in this great city. It is, after all, the greatest kingdom ever built by human. I believe my hometown is no longer standing thanks to the king's ambition for world conquest."

"What can I do while I'm here?"

"Hmm," Pupiar started scanning James up and down.

"Pardon for intruding your conversation, fellow travelers." A man was approaching them. He was wearing a robe with a Sun symbol on it. He was wearing a pair of spectacles.

"Oh, how long you have been standing there?" asked Pupiar.

"I just arrived by the way. The two of you stood out among the crowd. I can't help but to notice. And I overheard that this traveler in black cloth need to find something to do here while you prepare to teleport him out of the city, yes?"

"Ah, you are correct…."

"Don't worry, I will not report this to the police."

James looked at Pupiar to know why is it that this matter will attract the attention of the police. Pupiar gave him back a look that says I will explain later.

"Who are you and what do you want?" asked Pupiar, his tone a bit serious. You would be amazed just how quickly he changed his tone.

The unnamed man pushed up his spectacles.

"Call me June and I am looking for an errand boy."

James noticed the bright yellow eyes of his and so does Pupiar.

"Then you are in a right place!"

Pupiar looked at James and hint him to help June.

"Sure, I can help you," said James.

"Good, that is a wise choice. Now, 3 days, is it, I will make sure you will be fully utilize. Let's go…. what's your name?"

"James Charter."

"Pleasure to meet you James. Shall we start?"

"Hold on for a while, June. Can I have a chat with James before I send him off?"

"…Sure, I will be in front once you are done."

June walked in front and was out of hearing range of their conversation.

"I can't say I fully trust that guy, but he looks trustworthy enough. And I don't really have a choice here, teleporting in and out is illegal if you are not being given permission to do so if you are in the jurisdiction of this kingdom. Only military personnel are allowed to do it. Which is why, it is going to be a problem if he reported this to the police. But it seems he is more interested in using us than seeing us perish. It seems this guy is a schemer alright. You okay with it?"

"What choice do I have now?"

"Yea, you are right. I will come and find you after 3 days. Don't worry, I will not go back on my words. I am not a demon after all." He flashed a smile to James.

"Why are you helping me?"

"…..Just a hunch. You seem to be person that is going to put an end to the struggle between demons and humans. I bet you will play a super important role later on in the future and since I have already chose to bet, I will do whatever I can to make it happen. Stupid thing for me to do but hey, magicians always have an eye in details and I have been alive for too long, I should be dead by now but I didn't. So why not go the extra mile to help the one who chose to spare me in the end."

"Thank you."

"Hahaha," Pupiar slapped his back. "You know, I was thinking of making you as a magician assistant if that four-eyes dude didn't pop up out of nowhere. Now, go become his errand boy while I prepare to teleport you. See you in 3 days."

Pupiar disappear.

James went and meet June.

"Finish saying your goodbyes?"

"Yea…"

"Your face tells me that you are suspicious of me. For starters, I am not an enemy. I am just a travelling scholars trying to seek knowledge about the world and to find out the Truth. I am here right now in the Kingdom under a promise that I will provide the government my knowledge in exchange that they do not eradicate the knowledge they stumbled upon during the war. I have always been interested in demonology and you seem to be the right person for the job. Your job now is to hunt some demons and also protect me from demons. There is something I would like to know about them that has been troubling me recently. You have no problems with that, right?"

"Nope."

"Good, let's work hard for the next 3 days, James"
