"So, you're telling me; that you don't know where Adria is, and expect me to believe you?"Akon scoffed in disbelief. Max tailed Adria almost everywhere, hell he would go inside the bathroom with her if she'd let him.
"Look, do you think I possibly am aware that where she is, and I am still sitting idle? I don't know what got into you, but let me tell you that's not the case, I don't know where she is or I would have been looking for her already okay? Please." Max sounded pleading, and desperate. His sharp features looked dull, like he was going through some internal turmoil.
Akon was worried, he didn't saw her sister for what have been 5 days now, although she used to disappear from time to time like this; she would have told someone, he believed. It was almost like a certain Adria never existed in their organisation. He was worried, and he also realised how little space she took. Always quite and silent, although trained and powerful but always in the shadows, hidden in plain sight. It was like he almost saw her in a new light; not the Adria who always completed her missions and retreated, but a girl who was alone.
"I think I have to tell Father about this." He said after pondering for a while.
"You should." Max replied, without missing a beat.
Akon folded his hands in front of him and leaned against the table. "Okay, this is weird. If you actually didn't know where she is right now, you would have asked me to stop and wait for a few days. That she'll some back in a few days, just like always, might have forgotten to tell us. You know something, don't you?"
"Well, how do I say this? I don't know where she is but I do know stuff. I don't want to sound ridiculous though." Max replied, weighing his words.
"Hmm? I'm listening."
"I don't know how to say it." He don't want to get his tongue chopped.
"Just spit it out, damn it." Akon replied, clearly irritated.
"Okay I think she ran away with a woman." He replied hurriedly, freezing Akon in spot, who had leapt forward to whop his arse.
Akon gaped like he was a python, swallowing its prey which absolutely was too big for its mouth. A pause.
"Ran away?" He asked, an eyebrow cocked.
"Yes." Max said, absolutely cringing inwardly of the content coming out of his mouth.
"With a woman."
"Yes?" He tilted his head innocently.
"I hope you know what you're saying." Akon said in his cool grave voice,"Did you hit your head somewhere? This is crazy. Why would you think she'll run away with a woman. You were right, it indeed is ridiculous."
"Look I have my own doubts but from what I know, this is the case: She fell for this girl she saw on street one day, dug up about her, made her fall for her too somehow? And is gone with her now, forever."
"Ah. You're crazy, Max. She fell in love with a woman? Like a lesbian relationship? Homosexual?"
"That's what I think."
"𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬? Damn I don't know what to say. This is ridiculous. You need rest. I'll see you later." Akon sighed, he needed a break, but Max needed it more than him, huff. Tough job.
"Look Akon, I know it's crazy but believe me, I saw her, I was with her all this time."
"And I thought you 𝘵𝘸𝘰 were an item? Huh."
"That's what I thought but, uh, then she went all gooey eyes for that pretty girl, and here I am?"
"Oh, you're unbelievable. Also, it's too early to make a decision, I won't tell Father for now but we will try to find her on our own. If we can't and your ridiculous tale comes true or she's is in grave danger or something, I will. I know he will scold her but that would be our only chance."
"Okay, sounds good, where to start?"
"From her cyber cafe, duh."
Max froze. The cyber cafe. A girl, their body entangled, a big mess around the room. She was sweet, disgustingly sweet, and unassuming, wrapped around his pinky finger. She loves him. It is disgusting, and sweet. Why would someone love a person like him? One word from him and she'll jump off a cliff, as if he'll grow wings somehow and dive to save her. That doesn't matter now though, because she knows nothing. He did what he could, and surprisingly, although she would know whenever Adria went out, or for how many days, this time that little innocent bunny unaware too.
"That'll be no good. Visiting her Cafe, no avail, you know" Max said, a little lost.
"And how do you know that."
"Because unlike you, who only is worrying his ass off today, I had known this days earlier and did what I could."
"You did what?"
"Asked around. People who knew her, I asked all of them, no one knows, she didn't tell anyone. She's just, gone now."
"What about that little girl who works at the cafe? Did you ask her? I'm sure she knows something, anything, that'll be helpful." Akon asked, a little unsure.
"The only thing we can get her to tell us is a sweet little 'I don't know', and that won't help, for sure. The only lead we have is, that no one we are in contact with, or saw her interacting with is actually aware that she's missing, or knows where she is."
Akon groaned, frustrated. "Okay then, what about this 'pretty lady' you were talking about and her supposed affair with my sister who you thought you were 'in relationship' with?"
"Stop being an asshole now, please, and we didn't even spend that much time together okay? I just, thought all that meant something." Akon scoffed but Max continued anyway, "And I don't know much about this 'pretty lady'. I just saw her being dreamy and fawn eyed over her and muttering something like 'I'll find you'."
Both of them twisted the word 'pretty lady' around their tongue as if it was an entity to be detested.
Unaware and dreaming sweet dreams in the arms of her very capable lover, the 'pretty lady' slept calmly.
Max sighed to himself: 'Where have you gone my Goddess, have I not worshiped you good and enough that you didn't even thought twice before abandoning me'
