38 Fast Food Chains

The whole crew of auctioneers were at a loss. Backing down and refusing to repay for the jade damaged their reputation, yet if they paid for the jade, they would definitely go bankrupt!

Many a people pitied Xuanmei, not knowing that she actually got her jade back. Not only that, but she brought all of their treasures with her.

If the common folk knew, they would definitely vomit blood and curse her to death... Which is why Xuanmei never planned on anyone finding out. Acting as an angry youth, she came to the auction and asked for repayment.

The auction house finally decided to shut it's doors, placing their bank balance in Xuanmei's hands, along with the relatively medium sized shop. After all, if they didn't, they would be scorned and scolded by all. By doing this can they at least lessen their blame.

Xuanmei smiled. With how this played out...

"I guess a fast food restaurant chain is in place. Are there any other auction houses in this town or the next?"

"Oh, there are plenty." (A: Blue Pheonix! you evil animal! The poor auction houses...)

Paying the guild members commission for the building job, Xuanmei bought two more masks and headed over to the next town for a day or two.

The next town over was within walking distance, and in ten minutes, Xuanmei had already set her eyes on a particularly luxurious chain of auction houses spread over the large city.

Renting a nearby inn, she made sure that Ming, who was still in her Pagoda, came out of it and strolled around the streets, trying to listen for any rumours of the auction house that had gone bankrupt. Hearing none, the cat ran back to report.

Using a different, smaller piece of ruby this time, she smirked as she discovered small spreads of jewelry all made of either jade, ruby or gold.

The three auction houses in the city, spread far out, were all pretty much rolling in cash, and Xuanmei didn't want to risk them being able to repay all of the jewelry.

Thus, she placed a slightly smaller but still big version of the green jade, white this time, into all the auction houses, making sure all of them set to sell on different dates.

Using the three masks she had, making some subtle but important changes to the first mask that she used in the first, smaller town, she went to each auction house, managing to convince them to sell all the items.

"The plan is set, and so is the trap. Now, we just have to wait for it to spring, and capture the unknowing prey."

Smiling excitedly, looking very innocent in her youthful face, Xuanmei's words sent chilling shudders through the three animal's bodies.

The ram felt like he had stumbled across something, or someone, unsatisfactory, the blue pheonix groaning mentally about how the yellow porridge had left him to die, and Ming felt that for once, he really was an unlucky black cat.
